Community colleges are an important pathway to a lower-cost education and real-world job training for students in our community. I was proud to cosponsor the No Aid for Ghost Students Act to help stop fraud in student aid applications. When taxpayer-funded aid is stolen by fraudsters, it takes resources away from real students and puts more pressure on tuition and costs for everyone else.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Burgess Owens’ (UT-04) No Aid for Ghost Students Act passed the Education and Workforce Committee this afternoon. The bill aims to prevent bad actors from submitting fraudulent FAFSA Applications under stolen or fabricated identities by amending the Higher Educatio...

Frivolous lawsuits make it harder for small businesses to serve their customers. They raise costs, force businesses to spend money on attorneys instead of employees and make it more difficult for local shops to thrive. I was proud to cosponsor legislation that gives business owners a chance to fix ADA compliance issues on their websites before facing a lawsuit, helping protect access for individuals with disabilities while stopping abusive legal tactics that hurt small businesses.

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Sam Graves (MO-06) introduced the Protecting Small Businesses from Predatory Website Lawsuits Act, legislation that puts gives small businesses a chance to make websites accessible for Americans with disabilities, instead of being caught up in exploitive sue-and-settle...

Our community is home to thousands of veterans and military families who have sacrificed to serve our country. This week I was proud to support House passage of legislation that increases benefits for severely disabled veterans, strengthens support for surviving families, and expands VA home loan access for Guard and Reserve members.

WWP applauds House of Representatives for passing the Sharri Briley and Eric Edmundson Veterans Benefits Expansion Act to strengthen critical VA benefits for severely wounded veterans and surviving family members.

California’s housing shortage has made it harder for families, seniors, and young people to find housing that fits their needs and budget. I was proud to support House passage of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, a bipartisan bill that cuts regulatory barriers slowing construction, modernizes HUD programs, and strengthens local lending capacity so we can expand housing options across our state.

Today, the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, led by House Committee on Financial Services Chairman French Hill (R-AR), Ranking Member Maxine Waters (D-CA), Subcommittee on Housing and Insurance Chair Mike Flood (R-NE), and Subcommittee on Housing and Insurance Ranking Member Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO),....

Veterans should not lose a constitutional right simply because they ask for help managing their benefits. I was proud to support House passage of the Veterans 2nd Amendment Protection Act, which protects veterans’ Second Amendment rights and stops bureaucrats from treating VA paperwork like a court ruling. Our veterans fought to defend the Constitution, and the federal government should not take away their rights without due process.

Today, House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Chairman Mike Bost (R-Ill.), Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-La.), Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.), Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-Minn.), House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain (R-Mich.), Rep. Tom Barrett (R-Mich.), and House Committ...

Advanced driver assistance systems are becoming an important part of keeping drivers safe, but these systems rely on properly calibrated sensors and cameras. I was glad to speak in committee in support of the Motor Vehicle Modernization Act, which includes my provision to study how common vehicle repairs and modifications can affect these safety systems so federal policy keeps pace with changing vehicle technology.

Today, we pause to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in defense of our nation. Their sacrifice secured the freedoms we cherish, and we owe them and their families a debt of gratitude that can never be repaid.

I appreciated the opportunity to meet with the Inland Empire Economic Partnership to discuss the importance of keeping cybersecurity jobs here in our community. Cybersecurity is critical to our national security and our economy, and the Inland Empire has the workforce, talent, and innovation needed to help lead in this growing field.

Last year, a lithium battery fire near Baker shut down Interstate 15 and created major challenges for first responders working to safely clear the roadway. That is exactly why my amendment to the Surface Transportation Research and Development Act is so important. It will bring together firefighters, towing and recovery professionals, safety experts, and vehicle manufacturers to develop clear best practices for responding to electric vehicle fires and protecting the emergency personnel who keep our community safe.
