We are incredibly excited to officially introduce Sydney Lassiter as our new District Social Worker!
Ms. Lassiter brings over 13 years of professional social work and youth advocacy experience to our schools. Since 2013, she has served as a dedicated School Social Worker and student advocate right here in North Carolina, completely devoted to breaking down barriers to education, supporting student mental health, and helping families thrive. Her extensive background in individual counseling, small-group intervention, and family support makes her an incredible asset to our community.
She holds a Master’s of Social Work from Walden University, a Master’s of Criminal Justice with a concentration in Juvenile Justice from Norfolk State University, and a Bachelor of Social Work from Elizabeth City State University. Her extensive specialized training includes certifications in Crisis Intervention, PBIS (Positive Behavior, Interventions & Support), Trauma-Informed practices, and Homeless Liaison Training.
When asked about her new role, Ms. Lassiter shared: "I am honored and excited to serve as the new District School Social Worker for Perquimans County Schools. Coming from a small county and a family of educators, I understand firsthand the vital role the community plays in student success. I look forward to using my background to advocate for our families and make a meaningful, positive impact in Perquimans."

🚌 BUS ROUTE UPDATE

Our Transportation Department has been busy! During the first week of school, our team received and processed more than 100 new transportation requests.

To accommodate these additions and help improve arrival and dismissal, we have made adjustments to several bus routes. Beginning Tuesday afternoon, some students may have a different pick-up or drop-off time, and some may be assigned to a different bus due to capacity.

Please be on the lookout for updated transportation information.
