Derry Township School District

Derry Township School District Derry Township School District is a nationally recognized and award-winning public school system.

Our 114-acre campus hosts five schools
• Hershey Early Childhood Center

Today marks the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001.

Our students and staff took time today to learn about and reflect on the tragedy of 9/11, as well as its connection to our Hershey community. Each year, HHS alumnus Doug Jones joins us to share more about the events of September 11 and the story of HHS graduate Michael Horrocks, who was serving as co-pilot of United Airlines Flight 175, the second plane to strike the World Trade Center.

As we remember the lives lost and the lasting impact of that day, we also honor the connection September 11 holds within our own community. May we never forget. 🇺🇸

Our memorial plaque honoring Michael Horrocks was recently relocated to the entrance of our new stadium, where it is prominently displayed for students, staff and community members to visit and reflect.

As part of our annual Comprehensive Planning process, the district is reviewing our Flexible Instructional Days (FID) program. The virtual learning days we use in place of traditional school closure snow days. If requested and approved, the district can use up to 5 Flexible Instructional Days per school year.

We want to hear directly from our families. Your feedback will help us decide whether to continue offering FID days and how to improve the experience, including addressing concerns some families raised last year about having multiple FID days in a row.

The survey takes about 5 minutes and will remain open through September 30, 2026.

This survey is for families with students in DTSD only! We are appreciative of your time and valuable feedback!

The Derry Township School District Board of School Directors is currently seeking Citizen Advisors for its standing committees.

In their advisory capacity, citizen representatives may be called upon to react to new directions and proposals, provide information and support for budget initiatives, study and analyze issues, review proposals and materials, and provide input into policies at all operational levels of the school system. UPDATE:

Derry Township School District is aware of the video being shared from the August 28 Cocoa Bean game. We understand why the video has raised concerns, and we take those concerns seriously.

District and team administrators are addressing the matter directly. Our priority is to ensure that all students are treated appropriately and that our athletic and school activities remain safe, respectful environments where students can learn, build confidence and grow.

Because this involves individual students, we are unable to share additional details about the matter publicly. We appreciate the community bringing concerns to our attention and allowing the appropriate school personnel to address them directly.
