*𝐆𝐮𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲*
Officers responded to a restaurant in the 100-blk of Elden St around 2:30 AM on Saturday, June 6, 2026, for reports of a subject in the parking lot making threats with a gun. Upon officers’ arrival, the subject was detained. After speaking with the business’s private security, it was alleged the subject was also threatening people inside, saying that he had a gun. The gun was seized and Brown Callahan, 19, of Springfield, VA, was arrested. Charges were sought for brandishing a firearm and concealed weapon violation. The warrant for concealed weapon was approved and Callahan was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was released on an unsecured bond.

The weapon is described as Norinco MAK-90 Sporter chambered in 7.62x39mm, a highly regarded Chinese semi-automatic AK variant. Two 30-round magazines with a combined total of 51 rounds of ammunition.

We continue to work with local and federal agencies to locate Alvarenga. Armed and Dangerous. Last seen in PG Co MD.

INCIDENT ALERT: Officers responded to the 1000-blk of a Knight Ln shortly after 9:30 for a domestic situation. After an altercation in the house, the suspect, Cristian Alvarenga, 25, of Herndon, abducted a second victim that his known to him, stole that victim’s car, and left the area with the victim. The vehicle was pursued by several partner agencies through VA, DC, and MD. Alvarenga ultimately abandoned the vehicle and victim in MD. The victim is safe and the search for Alvarenga continues. Multiple charges are pending. Updates as available.

Not all two-wheeled rides follow the same rules. 🚲⚡🏍️

E-bikes, mopeds, and motorcycles each have different speeds, equipment requirements, and laws. Knowing the difference helps everyone stay safer on roads, paths, and trails.

Remember:
• When riding on shared-use paths and trails, e-bike riders should follow bicycle laws and trail rules.
• When riding on the roadway, e-bike riders must follow vehicle laws just like other roadway users.

Ride smart, ride predictably, and share the space responsibly.

Senior Sergeant Rider joined other instructors from Manassas City Police Department to teach at last week’s Bike School. Officers from both departments are now fully certified to patrol on bicycles, giving them better and more direct access to path, trails, and neighborhoods, in an effort to keep our communities safer. Thank you, Manassas City PD, for this great partnership! And congratulations to all officers who completed the course…and have the cuts and bruises to show for it!
