Spotlight: Payton Wilson 🍎

Meet Payton Wilson, an 11th grader from South Gibson County High School who dreams of teaching elementary school! Payton’s teaching journey began at age 10 while volunteering as a tutor at a local elementary school. That experience opened Payton’s eyes to a future filled with creativity, encouragement, and meaningful impact.

Payton is already making a difference as an art teacher, helping students explore new kinds of art and connect what they learn in the classroom to the world around them.

Payton’s inspiration to become an educator started through hands-on experience:
“Saying yes to tutoring opened my eyes to what I was truly meant to pursue. I love every second of teaching kids new kinds of art and showing how classroom learning connects to the outside world.”

Payton also credits Christy Wilson, a teacher and parent, for helping shape this future career path:
“I got to see the joy she had for teaching kids new skills. I aim to be a teacher students will trust, communicate with, and have confidence in.”

Payton’s dream is to create a classroom where students feel supported academically and personally:
“I hope to broaden the horizons and opportunities for my future students. I aim to teach not only math and science, but also life skills they will need outside of the classroom.”

Payton also recognizes the importance of future educators stepping into the profession:
“Teaching is one of the most rewarding jobs. It is important that more people consider teaching because every student deserves guidance, encouragement, and the education they need to reach their full potential.”

Payton’s advice for future educators? 💬
“Make sure you understand all aspects of teaching and what it requires. Learn what age group you work best with, because your passion and energy will reflect onto your students.”

Payton describes teaching in one word: Rewarding. ✨

Summer should be memorable for the right reasons. During the 100 Safest Days, FCCLA Members are encouraged to make responsible choices, practice safe habits, and lead by example in their communities.

From buckling up and staying focused behind the wheel to speaking up as passengers, every action helps promote safer roads for all. FCCLA Chapters can also make an impact by sharing safe driving resources, creating short PSAs or reels, and encouraging others to take the pledge.

Rosie the Llama is rocking funky socks for a purpose! 🦙🧦

Through the FCCLA and We Help Two partnership, FCCLA Members and FCCLA Chapters can fundraise while giving back. This campaign benefits Central Union Mission in Washington, DC, supporting local community impact, and the 2025-2026 Water for Africa initiative, helping extend service across the globe.

Every pair makes an impact, and Rosie is ready to rock those socks!
