"Good evening, Mayor and Board Members.
Tonight, I have the pleasure of recognizing someone who has truly gone above and beyond in his short time with us—our Employee of the Month, John Hollins, or as most of us know him, “Dog.”
John has been with the City for just eight months, working as a brush truck driver. But in those eight months, he's shown the kind of work ethic and dedication that would make you think he’s been here for years. Always on time, never a complaint—John shows up, day in and day out, ready to get the job done.
During our recent storm cleanup efforts, John played a crucial role.
He worked 10 to 12 hours a day, sometimes six and even seven days a week, helping restore our community. Not once did he ask for a break, and not once did he miss a shift. That kind of dedication is rare, and it's something we don’t take for granted.
Even beyond the job, John has made an impression. We've received multiple calls from citizens praising the work he’s doing—
mentioning not just the quality of the work, but his positive attitude and professionalism. That kind of public feedback is a big deal, and it's a true reflection of John’s character.
So, John, on behalf of the City and all your coworkers, thank you.

As cleanup efforts continue throughout the city and county. please help our hard working brush truck drivers out by checking out this illustration on debris placement and separation. Proper debris separation and placement helps our drivers out tremendously. It not only saves time but reduces potential damage to property and infrastructure.

DETOUR ALERT: On Tuesday, April 29, Canco Construction will be repairing the cross bore in the City's storm drain at the intersection of South Street/Mt Pleasant on behalf of Cspire. We are grateful for the prompt response by Cspire to help fix the issue. Below is a proposed detour route for traffic trying to use Mt Pleasant south, re-routing to W Center Street and Vaiden Drive. There will be one lane open at the intersection for extremely limited local traffic only for business or residence in that particular area. It will only take one day to complete the work.
