The Doke Built in 1928, and purchased by Lou and Marguerite Doke in 1965, this has been the family home since then.

The Doke was built on the dunes of Hermosa Beach in 1926, as a weekend beach retreat for a wealthy Los Angeleno family, wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles. The home has two and half bedrooms, and one and a half bathrooms built on two levels. The house is 1100 square feet, and half of that is the cavernous living room. The house is built in a Spanish-style motif, with lathe-on-p

laster construction. The Doke Family moved to the house in 1965, and has been the family home ever since. The house has remained largely unchanged from it's original configuration, save for the addition of a sliding back door in the kitchen, modification of the downstairs bathroom, a small porch for washing machines in the forties or fifties, and the addition of a greenhouse in 1973. The home recently had a new roof put on it, but is desperate need of repair and restoration.
