🐾 World Rabies Day: Stronger Together

September 28 is World Rabies Day, a global effort to raise awareness about rabies prevention and work toward eliminating this preventable disease.

This year’s theme, “Stronger Together,” highlights the important role that communities, pet owners, veterinarians, and organizations all play in protecting people and animals through education and vaccination.

Here in Hermitage, Tails of Hope is taking action by offering free rabies vaccines for cats and dogs throughout September. Vaccinations are available by appointment, and clients will only pay a $10 tech fee per animal.

Reminder: The City of Hermitage's Time Capsule Dedication event takes place this Saturday, September 12, at 1:30 p.m. at the City Building.

The event marks 50 years since the name Hermitage was adopted and includes remarks from local organizations, a display of items recovered from the original 1976 time capsule, and the dedication of a new capsule for the community.

Light refreshments will be provided. All are welcome.

Have a business idea you can’t stop thinking about? The Shenango LaunchBox, powered by the Greater Sharon Community, is teaming up with eight other Penn State LaunchBoxes to offer the Fall 2026 Idea TestLab — a free, four-week virtual accelerator for Pennsylvania-based entrepreneurs.

Participants will learn how to identify potential customers, test assumptions, evaluate existing solutions, develop a clear value proposition, and receive live training and one-on-one startup coaching.

Have electronics, household hazardous waste, appliances or tires to dispose of? A collection event will be held Saturday, September 19, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Jefferson Township Municipal Building, 7407 Lamor Rd, Mercer.
