Water conservation advisory issued for the City of Little Falls (06/05/2026)
The City of Little Falls has issued a Water Conservation Advisory effective 06/5/2026 until further notice.

Authorities advise against filling pools or hot tubs and recommend refraining from watering lawns or gardens and turning off outdoor irrigation or sprinklers. No washing of cars or other non-essential uses. Postpone laundry and dishwashing.

The advisory is expected to remain in effect throughout the weekend, with regular updates to be provided.

Officials emphasized that there is currently no boil water advisory in effect.

Updates will be issued as conditions change.

Although a day late I want to acknowledge the fact that 27 years ago yesterday 5/17/1999 five members of the Herkimer County Sheriff’s Office and several Herkimer county residents came together for day 1 of training to put Herkimer County 911 into action. After 8 weeks of training they were put onto the floor and starting handling calls. 27 years later there at 3 originals still standing strong and many others that joined along the way and countless others that have retired, moved on and unfortunately even some that have passed on.
With their dedication and sacrifice they have provided not only the residents of Herkimer County but also the residents of portions Hamilton County dedicated emergency assistance. Here is to 27 years and so many more to go. Please send our amazing group of dedicated dispatchers a well wish!!!

🚨FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: UPDATE 🚨

Walmart Incident

The Herkimer Police Department is providing an update regarding the incident that occurred earlier today at Walmart.

Officers responded to reports of a active incident and possible shots fired, causing alarm and a chaotic situation inside. Officers quickly located and detained a male suspect without further incident.

The investigation determined the weapon possessed by the male suspect was an imitation pistol not capable of firing live ammunition. While no shots were fired and no injuries were reported, the individual’s actions caused significant fear among patrons and staff.

The suspect, Maeleeke Warner, age 19, of Utica, has been taken into custody and is currently facing the following charges:

* Menacing
* Criminal Possession of a Weapon
* Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device

Warner is being held pending arraignment with a bail recommendation of $15,000 cash or $30,000 bond.

There is no ongoing threat to the public, and the situation was resolved safely.

The Herkimer Police Department would like to thank the Herkimer County District Attorney’s Office, Mohawk Police Department, New York State Police, Herkimer County Sheriff’s Office and Herkimer County 911 for their assistance. The rapid response of all involved resulted in a quick and successful outcome.

Public Safety Notification

The Herkimer Police Department responded to Walmart following a report of an active incident involving possible shots fired.

Officers arrived on scene quickly and detained a male individual leaving the area. At this time, it has been determined that no shots were fired, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.

This remains an active investigation, and officers are continuing to follow up on all aspects of the incident.
