Trapp Street is open!

Trapp Street between B Street and C Street will be closed today so that a hazardous tree can be removed. Please plan an alternate route. We hope to reopen Trapp Street by 4:30 this afternoon.

UPDATE: Power should be back on for everyone!

UPDATE: Evergy has located the issue, and hope to have power restored to everyone within the next couple of hours. The City will continue to run the generator in the meantime.

The city of Herington and surrounding towns are without power. Evergy is aware and Herington City Staff are doing what they can to get power back on. We are running our generator, that can power parts of the town, so we will be conducting rolling blackouts on the hour until all power can be restored. We have closed city hall, we will return at 7am tomorrow, please keep checking our page for updates.

M&K Trash informed us this morning that the landfill in Abilene is without power. All trash pickups will be moved back one day. Thank you!

City crews have been working for 20 hours to return service and clear debris after last night's severe weather. I am thankful for our Fire Department who posted weather updates and opened our storm shelter, and every one of our Light, Water and Public Works crew members who worked so hard today to take care of our community! Their hard work should not go unnoticed!! Thank you!
