Hereford Branch Library Like the BCPL system page for more information: https://www.facebook.com/bcplonline In 2002 the library was expanded to 7,500 square feet.

In 1983, the Hereford High School PTA initiated the idea for a "North County" library. The branch opened on October 3, 1988 on the first floor of the Hereford Center building. County Executive Dennis Rasmussen and County Councilman Dutch Ruppersberger cut the ribbon. The 5,000-square-foot branch opened with 11,000 items and was primarily staffed with volunteers. Operating hours were extended in 20

06. On July 25, 2015, a broken water pipe extensively damaged the interior of the building. This led Baltimore County officials to accelerate a renovation for the building that had been planned for 2017. The branch closed for nearly 1 year to undergo the $3 million extensive renovation and expansion. The Hereford Branch unveiled the brand new space on the morning of June 14, 2016. The library expanded to both floors of the building, doubling the space for books, computers and meeting areas. With 15,000 square feet of space, the library features self-service kiosks for checking out books, several computers for public use, a bar with outlets for laptop use, community meeting rooms, a quiet study area and The Hive, "a collaborative art/maker space."
