Deputy Dan Heiser Update

Many of you have been asking about Deputy Dan Heiser, and we wanted to provide an update on his recovery.

As many of you know, Dan was seriously injured in an off duty motorcycle accident involving his personal motorcycle. Since then, he has undergone surgery on both legs and has been making steady progress.

Today marked an important milestone in his recovery as he was transferred to an inpatient rehabilitation facility, where he has begun the next phase of his recovery through intensive physical therapy. While the road ahead will be challenging, Dan remains positive and determined.

After his transfer, K9 Rowdy - Ray County Sheriff’s Office and Lt. Colonel Tom Noon stopped by to visit Dan. As you can see from the photo, Rowdy was happy to provide some encouragement, companionship, and plenty of smiles. One of Rowdy’s most important jobs is helping people through difficult times, and today’s visit was a great reminder of the comfort and support he provides.

We continue to be encouraged by Dan’s strength, attitude, and determination. Recovery will take time, but he is already taking important steps forward.

Please continue to keep Dan, his family, and his medical team in your prayers. We are grateful for the incredible support shown by our community, fellow first responders, friends, and family.

Thank you for standing behind one of our own.

ROWDY UPDATE 🐾

A big thank you to Long Veterinary Clinic for continuing to care for Rowdy and helping guide his recovery.

We wanted to provide everyone with an update on K9 Rowdy following his veterinary appointment this morning.

The good news is that Rowdy continues to make progress. He is now about two months out from surgery and is using his repaired leg. While he still has some healing and rehabilitation ahead of him, today’s visit focused on helping him continue building strength and managing the arthritis associated with his injuries.

The veterinarian was pleased with his progress, and the next phase will focus on increasing his activity and rebuilding muscle.

As you can see from the photos, Rowdy’s attitude remains as strong as ever. His tail is still wagging, he still loves attention, and he continues to brighten the day of everyone he meets.

We appreciate all of the prayers, encouragement, and support that have been shown to Rowdy during his recovery. He still has a journey ahead of him, but he is making steady progress one day at a time.

Thank you for continuing to keep Rowdy in your thoughts and prayers. 🐕💙

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

IS YOUR TEEN DRIVER READY TO DRIVE?

Keeping Your Teen Driver Safe

(Richmond, MO) - First Impact will be offering a parent/guardian and teen driver safety program Monday, June 8, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Ray County Library located at 215 E. Lexington St., Richmond, MO. The program is hosted by the Ray County Sheriff’s Department.

First Impact is a statewide, free, 90-minute, evidence-based, traffic safety program for parents/guardians and teens developed by ThinkFirst Missouri in partnership with the Missouri Department of Transportation, Traffic & Highway Safety Division. The presentation educates parents/guardians and teens about Missouri’s Graduated Driver License (GDL) law and provides parents/guardians with the tools they need to monitor, coach, and support their soon-to-be or new teen driver.

First Impact uses video and discussion to promote the importance of parents/guardians and teens working together to reduce teen roadway crashes, injuries, and fatalities on Missouri roadways. The program is delivered by trained facilitators who coach parents/guardians by presenting key facts and proven strategies to help parents/guardians lower their teen’s crash risk by utilizing the Missouri GDL law.

Parents/Guardians have a huge influence on their teen’s driving behavior and experience. The time to prepare your teen to drive is now! Parental/Guardian involvement is key and has a significant impact on teen driving safety. Surveys show that teens whose parents/guardians impose driving restrictions typically engage in less risky driving behavior and are involved in fewer crashes.
