Don't worry, we all do it.

But while that might be your grilling good luck charm, it won't prevent a grill fire if your grill isn't properly cleaned and maintained.

Before cooking your next summer meal, take a few minutes to:
🔥 Clean grease and food buildup from the grill grates
🔥 Empty and clean the grease trap
🔥 Check propane connections for leaks
🔥 Keep your grill away from decks, siding, and other combustible materials

A cold front will bring another round of storms to the region Saturday afternoon and evening, some of which could become severe. Large hail up to golf balls, damaging wind, and heavy rain will be the main threats. Have multiple ways to receive warnings and do not attempt to drive on flooded roads!

TORNADO WATCH 313 ISSUED FOR PUTNAM COUNTY UNTIL 9:00 PM

The National Weather Service has issued Tornado Watch 313 for Putnam County and much of northern and central Illinois through 9:00 PM this evening.

This watch replaces the earlier Tornado Watch 311 and highlights an increased threat for severe weather across our region.

Primary hazards include:

• Several tornadoes possible, including the potential for a couple intense tornadoes
• Widespread damaging winds with gusts up to 80 mph
• Large hail up to 2.5 inches in diameter

Forecasters indicate that any storms that become established this afternoon could produce significant severe weather. As storms organize into a larger complex later today, the risk for widespread damaging winds is expected to increase.

Now is the time to review your safety plan, identify your safest shelter location, and ensure you have multiple ways to receive weather warnings. Conditions can change rapidly, and warnings may be issued with little notice.

Stay weather aware throughout the afternoon and evening. We will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed.

Severe weather threat remains.m for this afternoon.

Heads up for an active afternoon of weather! Numerous severe storms are expected, with swaths of damaging winds probable and also potential tornadoes. Some of this severe weather could be significant, especially along and east of the Mississippi River. Be sure to stay tuned to the forecast for updates!

TORNADO WATCH ISSUED FOR
PUTNAM COUNTY UNTIL 3:00 PM

Putnam County is now under a Tornado Watch until 3:00 PM this afternoon.

Conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes, damaging winds up to 80 mph, and large hail up to 2 inches in diameter. Forecasters indicate widespread damaging winds are likely, with the potential for a few tornadoes, including the possibility of stronger tornadoes.

A Tornado Watch does not mean a tornado is occurring, but it does mean the atmosphere is capable of producing severe weather quickly. Now is the time to review your safety plan, make sure you have multiple ways to receive weather warnings, and stay weather aware throughout the morning and early afternoon.
