This Tornado Watch has been issued area-wide for a bowing line of storms with embedded circulations in central Iowa racing eastward. In addition, storm cells will develop ahead and potentially southwest of the bow that will have a tornado threat too. Stay aware today!

Please use caution while traveling on Rt. 89 this evening. There is flooding across the roadway in the areas of N 850th and N 700th on Rt. 89. IDOT has been notified of the flooding and are on their way to assess the matter.

On Saturday, June 6th, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office hosted it 2026 Fishing Derby for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade Putnam County Students. We dodged the rain and had a great morning with several great catches. We would like to thank all that participated, our volunteers, and especially Jeff and Leslie Brooks for the use of their outstanding pond. Another great big thank you to Putnam County, Illinois Rotary Club for the donation of the two (2) bikes that one lucky girl and boy won.

Our fishing derby was established in 2001 to help in providing a positive relationship between our Putnam County Students and law enforcement. This event is all volunteer and supported by donations for our community and businesses to pay for the gifts/prizes, food and fishing gear. Donations can be made directly to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office. You can stop by or mail donations to: Putnam County Sheriff’s Office - 120 N. 4th Street, Hennepin, IL 61327 (just note the donation is for the Kids Fishing Derby.)
