Over the course of 30 years, he rose through the ranks from firefighter to Captain of his station crew, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and community. Afterward, he worked an additional 10 years as an Inspector for the Henderson County Fire Marshal. His commitment to his work was unwavering, and he was known for his courage, leadership, and kindness.

Marvin - We thank you for faithfully serving our community for so many years and for brightening so many of our lives along the way.

🌡️☀️ Hot, humid weather can quickly lead to heat-related illnesses, especially for young children, older adults, outdoor workers, and pets. Whether you're spending the day on the trail, working in the yard, or enjoying a community event, a few simple steps can help you beat the heat.

💧 Drink plenty of water, even if you don't feel thirsty.
🧢 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and sunscreen.
🌳 Take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning.
🐾 Make sure pets have access to fresh water and a cool place to rest.
🚗 Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle, even for a minute.

Know the warning signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. If someone becomes confused, stops sweating, or loses consciousness, call 911 immediately.

A little preparation goes a long way toward a safe and enjoyable summer. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and look out for one another! 🚒💙

🚲 In honor of World Bicycle Day, here’s a few tips to help keep our roads safer for everyone.

Whether you’re riding a bike or sharing the road, safety starts with awareness:

✔ Wear a properly fitted helmet every ride
✔ Use lights and reflectors, especially at dawn, dusk, or night
✔ Follow all traffic signals and ride with traffic, not against it
✔ Stay alert - avoid headphones or distractions
✔ Drivers: give cyclists at least 3 feet of space when passing

🚨 And remember, when you see emergency vehicles with lights and sirens, slow down and move to the right or pull over safely to allow them to pass.

Small actions make a big difference in keeping everyone safe. Let’s work together to keep Hendersonville moving forward. 🚴‍♂️🚒
