It is with heavy hearts the Hendersonville Police Department announces the passing of Detective Sean Simms. Detective Sean Simms passed away this morning (August 29, 2023) after a long courageous battle with a long-term illness.

Detective Simms served the citizens of Hendersonville for 16 years in a variety of roles, each of which he performed with excellence. Detective Simms began his career with the Hendersonville Police Department as a patrol officer in 2007. He served as a Master Patrol Officer and a Flex Officer before being promoted to Detective in September 2015. Detective Simms absorbed as many responsibilities as possible during his career.

Before joining the Hendersonville Police Department, Detective Simms served our country honorably in the United States Army. Detective Simms was an example of courage, commitment, and humility.
Detective Simms will be dearly missed.

The Old Hickory Lake Triathlon will be held this Saturday, June 17, in Hendersonville. Please take note of these important road closures and detours for the event.

From 6:30 to 9:30 am:
•SR-386 (Vietnam Veterans Parkway) West (towards Nashville) will be closed from New Shackle Island Rd. to Conference Dr. (SR-386 East will be unaffected.) New Shackle Island Road will be open and available for exit.
•Rockland Road will be closed from Pres Blon Dr. to West Main St.

Drivers heading to I-65 should use Long Hollow Pike or Gallatin Rd to avoid closures on the bypass.

Main Street will be open, but reduced to one lane going eastbound from Monthaven Park Pl to Rockland Rd. Please use caution when traveling in this area and be aware of the bikers.

HPD's MPO Spencer Bristol passed away in the line of duty 3 years ago today.

MPO Bristol left behind a wife, daughter, family and fellow officers who miss him dearly and daily.

The positive impact he made on the City of Hendersonville and the Hendersonville Police Department is still felt today and he is sorely missed.

REMINDER****TRAFFIC ALERT***

Christmas 4 Kids’ Bus Parade will be going from Gallatin to Hendersonville on Nashville Pike, TONIGHT, December 13th 5pm until 6:15p.

****EXPECT TRAFFIC DELAYS!!****

More than 70 Entertainer Tour Buses will be traveling from the Gallatin Civic Center to the Hendersonville Wal-Mart.

Route: Will be straight down 31-E from Gallatin to Hendersonville. The buses will turn on North Anderson Lane from East Main St.

Tomorrow December 13th, we will be escorting the Christmas 4 Kids bus procession. We will be escorting 70 buses from Gallatin Civic Center to Hendersonville Walmart, coming straight down US 31-E. Please expect delays from 5:15-6:15pm. We appreciate your patience and understanding in advance.

Important road closure information - PLEASE SHARE!

The railroad crossing at Saundersville Road (directly between Speedway and Thorntons on East Main Street) will be closed in both directions for construction.

The closure will begin at 6am on Thursday August 18 and the closure will continue for 24-72 hours.

Please seek an alternate route. Vietnam Veterans Blvd (SR 386), Main Street and Saundersville Road will continue to be open, but traffic delays are expected.
