The ceremony, hosted by the Hendersonville Fire Department (TN) - Official Site, will honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001. Mayor Jamie Clary recently issued a proclamation to the Tennessee Su***de Prevention Network (TSPN) recognizing September 2026 as Su***de Prevention Awareness Month. The TSPN is a grassroots collaboration of Tennesseans and organizations working to eliminate the stigma of su***de, educate the community about the warning signs of su***de, and ultimately reduce the rate of su***de in our state.

The proclamation notes su***de prevention resources, including the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. The lifeline provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones. Local resources include The Jason Foundation, Inc. -Youth Su***de Prevention and Awareness.

The Jason Foundation, Inc. is dedicated to the awareness and prevention of youth and young adult su***de by providing educational programs and resources that empower students, parents, educators, and the community to be better able to recognize and assist at-risk individuals. The Jason Foundation, Inc. is headquartered in Hendersonville.

Hunting season is approaching and sign-ups are open for the 2026 Urban Bow Hunting Directory! Bow hunters can visit https://forms.cloud.microsoft/g/fmH9WFkAXN to sign-up. Residents may be wondering what the Urban Bow Hunting Directory is, and how they can use it.

🦌 The directory was created last year as a part of the Deer Monitoring and Control Committee’s ongoing work to help residents address deer related concerns on their property.
🦌 Residents who want assistance managing the deer on their property can use the directory as a resource to find hunters.
🦌 The directory will be posted to the city website later this fall.

Have questions about hunting? The TWRA is the managing authority for deer in the State of TN. They set the hunting season dates and regulations. (Urban bow hunting has been allowed for many years across the state.) Residents and visitors need a valid TN hunting license to hunt.

The city and TWRA would also like to ask residents to consider donating harvested deer to food bank programs if the meat will not be utilized by the hunter. Tennessee Wildlife Federation’s Hunters for the Hungry program is a great, easy way to provide hunger relief. Did you know that our city is home to a fantastic, affordable public golf course? Country Hills Golf Course was opened at 1501 Saundersville Road in 1990! A few quick facts about the course:

⛳ No membership is required to enjoy the course.
⛳ It is an 18-hole, 6,211 yard course.
⛳ Course difficulty: it has a rating of 69.7 and a slope of 120.
⛳ Approximately 4,000 rounds are played at the course in a year.
⛳ The facility is also home to a full serve practice range and a putting/chipping green.
⛳ The food and drink snack bar serves sandwiches, snacks, beer, seltzers, sodas, water, and sports drinks.
⛳ The facility also houses a 2,500 square foot event space that may be rented for events, including banquets, community meetings, showers, etc.

Country Hills also offers lessons with PGA professionals! Groups wanting to host a tournament or event are welcomed. In fact, the course has hosted numerous high school and middle school teams over the years.

Players will find the course to be in great playing condition and both challenging and entertaining. Under the guidance of the Golf Course Commission and Golf Management Group, this beloved amenity has grown to become self-sustaining financially.
