June is National Safety Month💜

Safety is about more than just physical protection, it’s about feeling supported, heard, and knowing help is available when it’s needed. It’s having access to resources, advocates, and a community that stands with survivors.

This month is a reminder that we all play a role in creating safer homes and stronger communities. Small actions like checking in, speaking up, and staying informed can make a real difference.

S.A.F.E. House remains committed to providing shelter, advocacy, and support for individuals and families impacted by domestic violence. If you or someone you know needs help, call our 24/7 hotline at 702-564-3227.

“Healing takes time, and asking for help is a courageous step.”
— Mariska Hargitay

Healing is not something that happens overnight. It is a process that looks different for everyone. For many survivors, it means learning to rebuild trust, finding safety again, and taking life one step at a time.

Asking for help can feel overwhelming, but it is also an act of strength. We honor every step survivors take toward safety, stability, and recovery.💜

Today is LGBTQ Domestic Violence Awareness Day, a day dedicated to raising visibility, understanding, and support for LGBTQ+ individuals impacted by domestic violence.

Domestic violence can impact anyone, regardless of s*xual orientation or gender identity. In fact, LGBTQ+ women, trans people and non-binary people are equally as likely, if not more so, than their cisgender and heteros*xual peers to experience domestic or interpersonal violence.

According to the Human Rights Campaign, an average of 54% of transgender and non-binary individuals have experienced intimate partner violence in their lifetime, that's why providing safety, advocacy, and support for anyone experiencing domestic violence is essential.

Mental Health Awareness Month may be coming to a close, but our commitment to mental health support continues every day of the year.

For survivors of domestic violence, mental health is closely tied to experiences of trauma, safety, and recovery. Healing looks different for everyone, it can be steady, complex, nonlinear, and ongoing.

It can show up in small but powerful steps: reaching out for support, rebuilding stability, reconnecting with self-worth, and learning what it feels like to be safe again.

If you or someone you know is in crisis or needs immediate support, help is available. You can call or text the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline anytime at 988 or visit https://988lifeline.org/

Healing is not a moment. It is a journey. And no one has to walk it alone. 💜

Healthy relationships start with education, respect, and awareness.

Dating violence is more common than many people realize, and it can take many forms – emotional, verbal, digital, physical, or controlling behavior. Because it often begins early, education and open conversations are key to prevention.

Every young person deserves to have relationships built on respect, trust, boundaries, communication, and safety.

If you or someone you know is experiencing unhealthy or unsafe behavior in a relationship, support is available. Visit our website at https://safehousenv.org/ or call our 24/7 hotline at 702-564-3227

Have you thought of a safety plan?

A safety plan isn't just a document, it's a critical tool many survivors rely on to reduce risk and increase their sense of control during dangerous situations.

Not every plan is the same - it's a personalized, practical strategy for right now, when you're preparing to leave, or navigating life after leaving.

At S.A.F.E. House, our advocates help survivors create safety plans tailored to their unique situation.

Happy Mother's Day!💐

For a lot of the families we work with, reunification is an important part of the healing process. In situations of foster care placement, we help mothers as they rebuild stability and work toward getting back on their feet and reconnecting with their children. We’re grateful to partner with organizations like Living Grace Homes, who share in this mission by providing safe housing, guidance, and support to young mothers as they navigate motherhood and create brighter futures for themselves and their children.

To all the moms we've worked with or need our help, we understand and celebrate the courage it takes to heal, to grow, and to come back together as a family. This day is for you!
