This month's employee spotlight shines on Firefighter Dean Wathen!
Since joining the Henderson Fire Department in August 2024, Dean has been focused on continual growth and development within the fire service. His goal is to progress as far as possible in his career, with aspirations of becoming an engineer and reaching his highest potential while serving our community.
Dean is involved in several department activities, including the Dive Team and fire prevention programs. Many community members also know him as the department's DJ, hype man, and even as a cast member in this year's fire prevention play!
Outside of the station, Dean stays actively involved throughout Henderson County. He shares his DJ talents at football games, school dances, Vacation Bible School events, library programs, city events, and many other community gatherings. Whether he's serving on duty or volunteering his time, Dean enjoys finding ways to connect with and support the community he calls home.
Family is at the center of Dean's life. He and his wife are proud parents of two daughters, and he proudly embraces his role as a "girl dad," happily participating in dress-up sessions and creating special memories with his girls.
When asked what is most important to him, Dean highlighted his faith, his family, and maintaining his physical health. He is grateful for the opportunity to serve the community where he grew up, saying:
"Being back home has been amazing for me and my family."
Thank you, Dean, for your dedication to the Henderson Fire Department and the citizens we proudly serve!
