Calling all Hazardous Materials awareness level, operations level and technician level personnel within public safety and industry! HFD will be hosting three sessions of a TRANSCAER Live Ammonia drill. 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥'𝐬 𝐀𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐨𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐭 𝐇𝐅𝐃
Friday's adventures included:

• Carefully inspecting every fire truck from a safe, responsible distance

• Measuring personal height against tires roughly the size of a small moon

• Discovering that the UTV is exactly the right size for maximum pretend‑driving power

• Becoming the unofficial king of “Take My Picture By This Cool Thing Please!”

Even if the big trucks were a bit intimidating, the excitement was nonstop. Gear, trucks, the lounge, the history—every corner was explored with full curiosity and zero hesitation.

We love when visitors bring this much energy to the station. Come one, come all—there’s always room for more tiny (and not‑so‑tiny) adventurers.

This month, we are proud to shine the spotlight on Firefighter Jarred Lanham. Jarred began his career with us three years ago and has steadily worked to grow his skills. During his time with the department, he’s earned certifications in hazardous materials and in driving and setting up mobile water supplies. He’s always looking for ways to continue learning and improving as new opportunities come up.

When he’s off duty, Jarred enjoys spending time with his wife, Ashley, and their two daughters. They love being outdoors, camping, and traveling whenever they get the chance. The Lanham family lives in Daviess County, where Jarred also stays involved by volunteering with the Airport-Sorgho Fire Department.

We’re grateful to have Jarred as part of the HFD family. His hard work, positive attitude, and love for serving his community make a real difference every day. Thank you, Jarred!
