We would like to welcome aboard Janet Clifton as our newest board member here at Rusk County GCD. We know she will be a great addition to the board. She took her Oath of Office at this months regular board meeting.

It's that time of year again. This is a very good program for teenagers to learn leadership skills and about our most important resource.

It's that time of year again. The Rusk County GCD board has voted to continue our scholarship program since it was such a success last year. This year's scholarship will again be for $1000 and open to any graduating student who lives within Rusk County and attending College or Vocational School this coming Fall. The application can be found on our website rcgcd.org under the forms tab. I will be also contacting local schools to inform councilors about the scholarship. It does not matter if you attended public, private or home school. If you know someone who will be graduating this spring let them know about our scholarship. I'm hoping for even more applications this year. The due date for the scholarships to be turned in will be March 20, 2026.

We had a special guest at our monthly board meeting on May 12th. Olivia Clifton was presented with the Rusk County Groundwater Conservation Districts first scholarship. On behalf of our board we congratulate Olivia Clifton on receiving the scholarship and wish her good luck with her future endeavors. We would also like to thank all the other applicants for applying. Our Scholarship Committee had their work cut out deciding which student would receive the scholarship. We hope to continue to provide this scholarship in the future.

This Is a great program for those interested in learning about one of our most important resources, Water.

If you have been thinking about getting the water tested from your private well or you know someone interested, now is the time. The cost will be much cheaper than if you sent to a local lab. Plus the chance to sit in on an educational meeting to learn more about having a private well. It will be a good time to ask any questions you may have also.

Well I turned in all the submitted scholarship applications to our selection committee. They are going to have their hands full picking one out of all the submitted applications. They are beginning to go through them to select the student they feel is most deserving. I’m glad that task is not mine because there are so many deserving to choose from. I want to thank all the students who turned in an application.

Just wanted to get on here and make a quick post thanking all the high school seniors that have turned in applications for our scholarship so far. The deadline is still over a month away (March 18, 2025) so get the applications filled out. Also just as a reminder, it does not matter if you are graduating from a public, private or home school.
