Before the myth, there was the hustle. We joined Geoff Schumacher to learn more about the early entrepreneurial years of Howard Hughes — where the story really starts. Because before the eccentricities, before the headlines, he was simply a young person who couldn't stop building things.

Special gratitude to for the studio space to record this rare panel between Geoff Schumacher and Bob Stoldal.

Last night was truly a special evening!

Hosted by the Nevada Preservation Foundation, "An Evening with Mr. Hughes" welcomed friends and supports for a unique benefit supporting our effort to relocate and restore the historic home at the Clark County Museum.

Guests (including Mayor Shelley Berkley) enjoyed guided tours of the house before a remarkable conversation featuring historian Geoff Schumacher and journalist Bob Stoldal. The discussion reminded us why preserving places like the Green House matters — not just for nostalgia, but for understanding the people and ideas that shaped our community.

We are so profoundly grateful to Nevada Preservation Foundation, 8 News Now, and everyone who attended, supported, and helped make the evening possible! Each step brings us closer to our goal of bringing this important piece of history home to the museum.

At the Clark County Museum Guild, we know that preserving history is an active, ongoing commitment — not something that happens by accident. For 50 years, the Guild has helped grow the Clark County Museum, one rescued story at a time. And this year, we’re going big.

For Giving Tuesday, we’re inviting our community to help us bring the next house to the Museum — a 1970s home that will become the newest chapter on Heritage Street. With your support, we can move it, restore it, and open its doors to the public.

Every gift helps us Bring History Home. 💚🏠

Las Vegas changes fast, but Clark County Museum's Heritage Street reminds us that our history has roots.

Each home at the Clark County Museum was rescued, moved, and restored to help tell the story of our community. These houses are more than exhibits; they’re living chapters of everyday life in Las Vegas.

For Giving Tuesday, we’re preparing to add the next chapter: relocating and restoring the historic Howard Hughes Green House to Heritage Street.

It’s a small house with an outsize place in our city’s story. And with community support, we can bring history home 💚🏠
