πŸ“’ SBA Disaster Loan Assistance Available πŸŽ‰

The U.S. Small Business Administration has announced the availability of low-interest federal disaster loans for eligible small businesses and private nonprofit organizations in North Carolina that experienced economic losses due to drought conditions beginning April 14.

The disaster declaration includes several counties in our region, including Franklin, Granville, Person, and Vance counties.

Eligible small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, nurseries, and private nonprofit organizations may apply for Economic Injury Disaster Loans to help meet working capital needs caused by the disaster. Loan funds may be used to pay fixed debts, payroll, accounts payable, and other bills that could not be paid due to the drought.

Applications may be submitted online at sba.gov/disaster. Applicants may also contact the SBA Customer Service Center at (800) 659-2955 or [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) for more information.

The deadline to return economic injury applications is February 1, 2027.

😁 Last Tuesday, on June 2nd, 2026, Ashley Zuniga, Safe Routes to School Regional Program Coordinator, set up a Safe Routes to School table at the Youth Mental Health Well-Being β€œWhat I Wish My Parents Knew” event at the Community Methodist Church in Butner, NC. πŸ’šπŸ–€πŸ€

πŸ“½οΈπŸŽžοΈ At the beginning of the event, church staff presented the independent film What I Wish My Parents Knew, which featured young teens sharing personal stories about their mental health experiences and the coping strategies that helped them navigate difficult moments. The film emphasized the importance of open conversations, trusted support systems, family connection, healthy outlets, and creating safe spaces where youth feel heard and supported. 🫢

πŸ—£οΈ During the event, Ashley spoke with parents and youth about the importance of the Safe Routes to School initiative and the connection between safe, active transportation and youth mental health and well-being. πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈπŸš² Safe Routes to School encourages students to walk and bike safely, while also promoting physical activity, confidence, independence, positive routines, and stronger community connections. πŸ™Œ

πŸ€— We are grateful for the opportunity to share resources, engage with families, and be part of an event dedicated to supporting youth mental health and overall well-being. πŸ‘
