Across the world, on May 4, we stand united by a profound sense of remembrance and respect.

International Firefighters’ Day is more than a date.
It is a shared global moment — a moment to pause.

To remember and honour the lives of those who have passed.
To commemorate the courage and commitment of those who serve today.
To educate and inspire those who will serve in the future.

This day provides us with space to reflect on courage, on service freely given without expectation, and on lives lost while protecting others.

A life lived in service of others is never forgotten.

The legacy of those we honour does not fade with time. It lives on in the values they embodied and in the communities they protected.

Wherever May 4 finds you today, we thank you.

Today we recognize the men and women who answer the call—no matter the time, no matter the risk.

👉 Take a moment today to thank a firefighter or share why this career means something to you.

Today, we honor the brave.

Behind every alarm is a firefighter ready to run toward danger… when everyone else is running away.

They don’t ask who you are.
They don’t hesitate.
They just show up. Every single time.

Courage in the face of fear.
Honor in every action.
Sacrifice beyond words.

To all firefighters around the world, thank you for protecting lives, homes, and futures.

You are the reason many get a second chance.

***ATTN: Fire Inspectors*** (currently certified inspectors AND those who are training to become certified inspectors)

On Sept. 1, 2025, a new state law went into effect that needs your attention. If you are a certified fire inspector or someone who is training to become a certified fire inspector, you are required to watch a specific training video (approximately 5 minutes in length) regarding inspecting AEDs in Texas schools. You must watch this video even if you do not currently inspect schools.

🔹If you are currently certified as a fire inspector🔹 please complete your required viewing ASAP.

🔸If you are training to become a TCFP-certified fire inspector🔸 you must view this video in order to become eligible for the inspector certification.

This new requirement was passed by the Texas Legislature during the most recent legislative session and is now a mandatory component of your inspector certification.

More details and instructions on how to access the video will be posted to TCFP’s website and page soon. We will also be sending emails to all individuals with instructions on how to view the video, so please be on the lookout for it.

As soon as the video is available, we will post additional information.

A look ahead to next week's weather:
..Tuesday/Day 7 and Wednesday/Day 8...
The western U.S. trough is finally forecast to approach the southern Plains on Tuesday, where a moist and unstable airmass should be in place. Some solutions suggest that a mid-level jet will move into the southern Plains Tuesday afternoon. This would create strong deep-layer shear over parts of the moist sector, suggesting that a substantial severe threat will be possible. Although there is still spatial uncertainty regarding this scenario, current model forecasts would support supercells with large hail, severe wind gusts and some tornadoes.
