I got a text from a law firm I work with yesterday.
One of the heirs of a veteran client who passed 3 years ago, got a major whopping financial settlement for a
wrongful death case !!!!!
Yaaaayyyyyyy !!!!!!!!
The veteran was posted to a sub-tender operating off the coast of Scotland. The water on board was contaminated with chemicals and fuel. It was so bad that her commander ordered the crew to light their drinking water up with a match and then drink it when the fire went out !!!!!
Terrible !!!!
Anyway, the effects of the bad water rotted her guts out and she had to quit her job at the Post Office. She was confined to a wheelchair for the rest of her days.
The VA awarded her a 20% disability award, about $400 a month for her service-related ailments.
So, first, I got her increased to 90% rating, elevating her monthly income to about $2200 a month.
Then, when she passed 3 years ago, I referred her to attorneys who sued the hospice for mistreatment and malpractice.
Now we are going after the VA for presumptive damages under the PACT Act.
The client, BTW paid me $10k for my efforts.....not a bad return on her investment.
Her mother and surviving sister now live in a paid-off new home instead of the broken-down mobile home they lived in stuck in the desert of Pahrump.
Yes....the boss does a few cases himself, normally the tough ones.
The rest I relegate to my team of trained State Certified Veterans Advocates.
OK...so past performance doesn't guarantee future results, people can lose cases, I am not an attorney, a law firm won the case for the client, I worked with two of my advocates processing the claims, and the VA can say no.....
The VA also says that they can do the same thing for free and so do non-profit recognized Veteran's Service Organizations, like the VFW.
Disclosures, disclosures.
So, if you are a veteran and you feel you may suffer from a disability, injury, or illness caused by.....the time you served and the risks you took....please reach out to me.
