Corydon Civil Defense Fire & Rescue

Corydon Civil Defense Fire & Rescue The Corydon Civil Defense Fire & Rescue was founded in 1954 to serve the Citizens that lived outside the city limits of Corydon.

Offically founded in 1954 the Corydon Civil Defense Fire & Rescue (CCD) was formed by a dedicated group of men who wanted to provide fire protection to the citizen living outside the city limits of Corydon. In the late 90's the City FD closed its doors and the CCD now is the primary response department to the City along with the out lying area. We operate out of 1 unmanned station. Recently with t

he help from Fire Captain P.Brewster and Mayor L.Thurby the CCD was awarded a grant to build us a new fire station.

Come see us on 9/11 and support two great community events as we come together to honor, remember, and never forget those we lost on September 11, 2001.

Start the day with the 9/11 Sunrise Remembrance Ceremony & Stair Climb at Henderson County High School, hosted by Henderson City FD. During the stair climb, donations will be accepted, with proceeds benefiting the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and the HCHS Fire Science Career Pathway.

Then, end the evening with us at the Classic Car & Truck Show at Crawford Park from 6–9 PM, where the Corydon Civil Defense Fire & Rescue will be providing concessions!

We hope you’ll join us throughout the day as we remember the fallen, honor their sacrifice, and support our community.

🇺🇸 9/11 — WE WILL NEVER FORGET. 🇺🇸

Henderson County Water District will begin flushing water mains Friday as part of its routine system maintenance program.
Initial flushing activities will focus on areas including US Highway 60 West, Corydon, Geneva, Smith Mills, and surrounding communities within Zone 1.

Superintendent Mark Julian said that not every area in Zone 1 will be flushed on Friday. He added, “crews are getting an early start on this important maintenance program to help ensure we continue delivering the highest quality water possible to our customers.”

While flushing is underway, customers may temporarily experience:
• Discolored water
• Air in water lines
• Brief periods of lower water pressure

These conditions are normal during flushing operations and should clear shortly after crews complete work in the area.

• Friday, September 4: Flushing begins in Zone 1 (western Henderson County – US 60 West, Corydon, Geneva, Smith Mills west to Union Co Line.)

• Saturday, September 5: Flushing continues throughout the morning and afternoon in Zone 1

• Monday, September 7: No flushing activities planned due to the Labor Day holiday

• Tuesday, September 8: Flushing resumes after 8:00 a.m.

Once Zone 1 is complete, HCWD crews will systematically move through the remaining pressure zones by opening hydrants and flushing water at the ends of distribution lines to improve water quality and turnover throughout the system.
