Parents, you’ve still got a few more weeks to let the kids run wild at the splash pads! Most Town of Hempstead splash pads will be open throughout September, so grab the towels, pack a change of clothes, and let the kids cool off and have some fun. Check the list below for full details.

💦 Splash Pads: Baldwin Park, Coes Neck Park, Elmont Park, Seamans Neck Park, and Shell Creek Park, daily through September 27; Bluegrass Lane Pool Splash Pad & Wolcott Road Pool Splash Pad, weekends from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

At sunrise this morning, the Town of Hempstead family gathered at Point Lookout to mark 25 years since the September 11 attacks. The memorial service gave us a moment to remember the victims, recognize the courage of our first responders, and reflect on the lasting impact of September 11 on our communities. Thank you to the fire departments, pipes and drums, clergy, musicians, and everyone who helped make today’s service a meaningful tribute.

Today, I was proud to welcome Robert Nunez, a United States Air Force veteran, to lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance at our Town Board meeting. Robert served as a military police officer and deployed to Vietnam in 1968, later returning home to raise his family in Island Park. It has become a meaningful tradition to recognize a local veteran in this way, and I am grateful for the opportunity to hear their story and personally thank them for their service to our country.
