Attention Hempstead families!

The Village of Hempstead Department of Parks & Recreation is thrilled to present the Summer Music Academy, a FREE music program designed for young people ages 10 to 17 right here in our community.

This summer's theme celebrates the horn section: trumpet, trombone, and saxophone. Under the leadership of Music Director Everton Bailey, participants will spend six weeks developing their craft and their confidence.

Dates: Monday, July 6 – Thursday, August 13, 2026
Time: 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM
Location: Kennedy Memorial Park | 335 Greenwich St, Hempstead, NY

Hempstead families, Swimming Lessons are back at Kennedy Park Pool and we want YOUR children in the water this summer!

The Inc. Village of Hempstead Department of Parks & Recreation is offering swim instruction for kids ages 5–15, plus dedicated evening sessions for adults, seniors, and veterans.

Here's everything you need to know:
🧒🏾 Youth Lessons (Ages 5–15) — $60/child per session

📅 Session 1: July 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, 16 | 10:00–10:45 AM

📅 Session 2: July 21, 22, 23, 28, 29, 30 | 10:00–10:45 AM
👤 Adult Lessons — $70 | Seniors & Veterans — $40

📅 July 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, 23, 28, 29, 30 | 5:30–6:30 PM

The countdown to summer is on!

Mayor Waylyn Hobbs Jr. and the Village of Hempstead Department of Parks & Recreation invite all Village residents to join us for our Island Vibe Pool Opening Party on Saturday, June 27, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Kennedy Memorial Park Pool, 335 Greenwich Street, Hempstead.

Bring the whole family out for an afternoon filled with:
