***UPDATE***

At tonight's Board of Education Regularly Scheduled Meeting the BOE voted 4 to 1 to strip the former District Clerk of her Confidential Salary and Stipends and return her to the position of Typist Clerk under the Civil Service Bargaining Union. They further voted to keep her on Administrative Leave of Absence With Pay pending further action(s) from the Board.

What does this mean???

This means the former district clerk will no longer receive the additional pay to her salary for her duties as District Clerk or Records Access Officer, or for being a Confidential Secretary. Her title now is Typist Clerk, and she is assigned home until the Board decides otherwise.

Trustees who voted in favor: Spencer, Johnson, Williams and Jackson.

Trustee who opposed: Trustee Nicholson-Dukes

Thank you Hempstead School District Community for exercising your right to vote during yesterday's Special Election.

The Board of Education did certify the election results.

***Please pay attention to Absentee and Early Voting Ballots as they are a way to commit mass voter fraud, especially as it relates to the Hempstead School Board Elections. Not alleging any fraud went on this go around but we as a community should get more involved and stop allowing our voting process to be determined by mail ballots***

It was nothing but Tiger Pride and Positivity this past weekend as the took over the entire Village.

👏 to the entire committee of HHS Alumni who had the vision to bring the classes of 2000 - 2010 along with other Tiger4Life Family Members together for a weekend of fun, walks down memory lane, and a chance to create new memories with one another.

Bravo again to the entire team for the ex*****on of this past weekend festivities. You really out did yourselves.

Special Election for Hempstead UFSD School Board Trustee. I am encouraging everyone to cast a vote of confidence for Ms. Eugenia Girtman. She is a representing the .

After graduating High School she furthered her studies at SUNY Old Westbury where she received her Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education. Afterwards she obtained her Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Molloy College. 🎓

Ms. Girtmam could of went anywhere in the world with her talents but instead she decided to dedicate her gifts and love for children back to the her home town. She worked as a Teacher for the Hempstead Union Free School District and taught at Jospeh A. McNeil (Franklin Elementary) and Barack Obama (Ludlum Elementary Schools). She retired in 2021 after 30 years of dedicated service to the students and families of our district.

Lastly, she is a resident and Taxayer of our district who has resided and supported our Hempstead Community in every positive possible way for over 60 years. She raised her family here and she helped educate many generations here in Hempstead.

Let's suppoort and elect someone who really cares for our students. Let's Put Our Children First Again!

Hempstead UFSD will hold a Special Election to fill the vacant seat on the School Board on Monday, August 17, 2026 from 7A - 9P at the Alverta B. Gray Shultz Middle.

The Candidates will remain the same. You can choose from one of the Printed Candidates Names or you can Write Your Candidate of Choice In.
