Hemlock K.C. Ling Elementary School

Hemlock K.C. Ling Elementary School This page is to update students and parents as to the coming events at Hemlock/Ling Elementary Schools. Most is in rural western Saginaw County .

The Hemlock Public Schools District was organized in 1863 and is governed by a seven member board of education elected by the general constituency of the district. The district consists of 120 square miles and is located in five townships that extend into two counties: Saginaw and Midland . Our district has two elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. The school district is locat

ed in the unincorporated community of Hemlock. Hemlock has about twelve hundred residences and is located in an agricultural and residential setting. The district currently serves 1,298 students. With a commitment to excellence, we offer our students challenging academics and relevant learning programs. Yet at the same time we believe that education should engage the whole student. Through athletics, drama, technology, music, service learning opportunities and other extracurricular activities, Hemlock Public Schools provides extensive and well-rounded opportunities for all of our students to achieve their full potential. Our underlying philosophy is "Kids First". That means we don't settle for "good enough" because we believe our students, their families and our community deserve nothing less than excellence. We are continually looking for and incorporating opportunities to make education better...as a springboard for life, as preparation for higher education and as a positive learning experience for all of our students. We welcome and strive to maintain open and timely communication with our families. Parents and guardians are encouraged to get involved. We have various volunteer opportunities and parent groups that help build close relationships with school administrators, teachers, coaches, advisors and support staff. We invite you to visit our schools to become familiar with your child's everyday educational environment.

Things got a little messy in Ms. Baldwin's classroom on YES Day!

Students put their science skills to work creating Oobleck - a fascinating mixture that acts like both a solid and a liquid! From squeezing it in their hands to watching it ooze through their fingers, our Huskies had a blast exploring this hands-on experiment during their ABC Countdown to the end of the school year.

Learning, laughter, and a little bit of mess made for a memorable YES Day experience!

W is for Watermelon! πŸ‰

Our 1st graders had a wildly fun time celebrating the letter W during their ABC Countdown! As watermelon archaeologists, they dug into a delicious watermelon treat before taking on a very important scientific challenge...

How many rubber bands can a watermelon hold before it bursts? πŸ€”πŸ’₯

The students watched with excitement as rubber band after rubber band was added. The suspense kept building until... POP! πŸŽ‰

The final count? 417 rubber bands!

What a wonderful way to combine hands-on learning, teamwork, predictions, and a little messy fun!
