Richland Township Police Department, Hemlock MI Richland Township Police Department has three full time Officers and two part- time officers. The Police Chief is Jack Doyle.

The other sworn full time Officers are: Officer Chris Goldman, Officer Larry Durocher and Officer Jacob Polzin whom is contracted as the Merrill Officer. Part time officers are Officer Brian Pitt and Officer John Meehleder. There are in excess of 100 years of police experience with the 6 sworn officers. The Department is dedicated to the safety and well being of the citizens of Richland Township.

ATTENTION: Avoid M46 and Raucholz Road, it is extremely slick and we have a Semi jack knifed across the road.

Update: the road is open and MDOT has cleared as much as they can, but the road is still pretty dangerous. Big shout out to Len Schmitzer, Michigan Department of Transportation, and Mikes Wrecker Service for their help!

An IPad was recovered at Raucholz & Boswell. A citizen turned it in. If the device belongs to you, give us a call to describe the item in more detail, or stop by the PD.

Every once in awhile everyone gets that pesky random door to door salesmen that seem to pop up out of nowhere..

If by chance someone comes to your door trying to sell you random services or items-

Here are some safety tips:
1) Do not open the door if you do not know them.
2) If you are home alone-do not release this information to the seller.
3) If you are not home and have a ring camera or similar device advise the seller you have company and can't be bothered at the moment.
4) If possible speak to them through your door.

Stay safe out there and stay warm everyone!

Tonight (12/2/2025) at approximately 5:26pm, our officer was dispatched to the 4200 blk of N Fordney for a domestic in progress. A Thomas Township officer also responded to assist.

Upon arrival, a neighbor warned the officers that a suspect was waiting with fi****ms and had already discharged them on the property. It was at this time additional shots could be heard by the officers.

Numerous agencies responded, and after a period of time, the suspect peacefully surrendered to police.

Thankfully no one was injured in this incident.
