NOW HIRING – SANITATION WORKER
Full-Time Position | Public Works Department
The Borough of Hellertown is seeking a dependable, hardworking individual to join our Public Works Department as a Sanitation Worker. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of our community while providing essential refuse collection services to Borough residents.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Collect residential refuse and recycling materials.
• Roll trash containers from residences to collection vehicles and return them neatly after service.
• Operate sanitation and other Public Works vehicles and equipment.
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections and maintain required records.
• Communicate collection issues and service concerns to administrative staff.
• Assist with other Public Works operations, including snow removal, street sweeping, and grounds maintenance as needed.
Qualifications:
• Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License with a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or higher.
• Ability to perform strenuous physical labor and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to public service.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience operating trucks, equipment, and power tools is preferred.

Administrative Assistant Join Our Team!
The Borough is seeking a highly organized, customer-focused, and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to support daily operations in a fast-paced local government environment. This position serves as a key point of contact for residents, staff, elected officials, and outside agencies while providing administrative support across multiple municipal functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide exceptional customer service by assisting residents and visitors in person, by phone, and through email correspondence.
• Prepare, process, and maintain records, reports, permits, agendas, minutes, and other municipal documents.
• Assist with scheduling meetings, coordinating events, and maintaining calendars.
• Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence and public inquiries.
• Support various municipal departments with clerical and administrative tasks.
• Maintain accurate filing systems and records in both electronic and paper formats.
• Assist with data entry, accounts receivable/payable functions, and other administrative duties as assigned.
• Handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or related education preferred.
• Minimum of two years of administrative office experience, preferably in municipal government or a public service setting.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The Borough of Hellertown has issued a Transient Retail Permit to Trinity Solar, LLC, a local solar company, to conduct door-to-door outreach within the Borough from June 16, 2026 through June 23, 2026. During this time, Scott Mari, a representative from Trinity Solar, LLC will be visiting neighborhoods to share information about their services. Mr. Mari has provided photo I.D and proof of background check through the Pennsylvania State Police which has been verified by the Borough of Hellertown Police Department. This permit allows solicitation only during the approved dates and requires him to carry proper identification and a copy of the permit while conducting business. Residents are encouraged to ask for identification and to contact the Borough if they have any questions or concerns. Thank you!

Lessons are free and open to Hellertown and Lower Saucon Township residents only.

Hellertown, PA Road Closure
Due to a significant oil spill on the roadway, portions of High Street and Wilson Avenue are currently closed while emergency crews and environmental contractors work to contain and clean up the spill.

For the safety of motorists and responders, please avoid the area and follow all posted detour routes. Delays are expected, and the roadway will remain closed until it is deemed safe for travel.

We appreciate the prompt response of our emergency personnel and public works crews as they work to address this situation. Updates will be provided as additional information becomes available.
