Now Accepting Applications – Civil Service Board Members Needed
The Borough of Hellertown is currently seeking dedicated residents to serve on our Civil Service Board. This volunteer position plays a critical role in ensuring fairness, transparency, and integrity in the hiring and promotional processes within our Police Department.
Current Vacancies:
• Two (2) Commission Member positions
-One term ending 12/27
-One term ending 12/28
• One (1) Alternate position
-Term ending 12/26
Applicants must be qualified electors of the Borough and committed to impartial public service.
Civil Service Board members are responsible for:
-Overseeing the testing and selection of police officer candidates
-Ensuring hiring and promotions are conducted in a fair, merit-based manner
-Upholding the requirements of Pennsylvania Civil Service law
-Maintaining public trust in our local government
The Commission shall meet and organize on the first Monday of January of each even-numbered year. Except for the biennial organizational meeting, meetings are held at the call of the Chairperson or at the call of two members of the Commission.
