Montana Environmental Information Center - MEIC

Montana Environmental Information Center - MEIC MEIC is an environmental advocate founded in 1973 by Montanans concerned with protecting and restoring Montana's environment.

MEIC's offices in Helena, Montana, are located on the ancestral homelands of the Salish-Kootenai people and the Siksikaitsitapi or the Blackfeet Nations. Our wider state of Montana is enriched by the continued presence of many tribal communities—The Apsalooke, Northern Cheyenne, Chippewa Cree and Little Shell Chippewa, and the Oceti Sakowin. We are grateful for their stewardship of this place and

acknowledge that our organization has more work to do to fully honor and respect their relationships to these lands we call home.

Beyond Nuclear's Linda Pentz Gunter explains the danger behind Trump's latest corrupt gambit 👇

By Linda Pentz Gunter The Trump administration is once again doing what it does best – demonstrating a complete disregard for the law, and we’re not even talking end runs around the IRS here, or slush funds with which to reward family members and violent insurrectionists. This time, it’s about...

“It’s all risk and no reward for Montana,” sums up the new iteration of Keystone XL, aka the Bridger Pipeline expansion project.

Unlike the past Keystone XL, the majority of the route for the Bridger Pipeline would run through our state, endangering our land, water, wildlife, and communities.

Montana doesn't stand to benefit from being turned into a corridor for the most dangerous type of oil.

“This oil isn't meant for our state; we're being treated as a flyover. It’s putting our land and water at high risk to just fill the pockets of Big Oil.” Shannon James, MEIC campaigns and advocacy director, told Sierra Magazine.
