The Helena Police Explorer post was started in 1998 with 8 charter members, many are still involved with the program. From the very beginning, we have strived to be one of the best law enforcement explorer programs in America. Since inception, we have attended six (6) Nationa

l Conference/Competitions, seven (7) state level competitions, and countless training academies. In 2004 and 2006 we received more top five trophies than any other post in the nation.

Join the Helena, Alabama Police Department Explorers and the Helena Fire Cadets out at Helena Old

Our Explorers and Cadets will be walking around the event and providing wristbands for children to help keep families safe in case a child gets lost or separated. The wristbands allow parents to place their contact information on them so first responders can quickly reunite families if needed.

The S.A.F.E. Trailer will also be available for anyone who may need a quiet area to take a break from the crowds or noise during the event.

If you see us walking around, feel free to stop by and say hello! We look forward to seeing everyone out at the event and helping keep the community safe while everyone enjoys the festivities.

Tonight, the Helena Police Explorers started the meeting off with some PT before moving into the classroom for an important lesson on domestic violence situations. Explorers watched and discussed a video that focused on domestic violence from the perspectives of the individuals involved, helping them better understand the emotions, challenges, and real-life impacts these situations can have on families and relationships.

Discussions like these help our explorers build communication skills, awareness, and a deeper understanding of situations first responders may encounter in the community.

The Helena Police Explorers kicked off Monday night’s meeting with some tougher PT, pushing our explorers to build strength, endurance, and discipline. 💪

After putting in the work physically, we transitioned into the classroom where we began learning about domestic situations—focusing on awareness, communication, and the importance of handling these calls with professionalism and care.

Our explorers continue to grow each week, both mentally and physically, preparing themselves for the challenges of the first responder field.

This past weekend was an incredible opportunity for our Helena Police Explorers as they got to work side by side with the Fire Cadets during the concert.

It was great to see the teamwork, dedication, and professionalism from both groups while helping keep the event safe and running smoothly. Opportunities like this give our Explorers real-world experience and a chance to build strong relationships with our fellow first responders.

Proud of the hard work and commitment these young men and women continue to show. The future of public safety is in good hands. 🚓🚒

The Helena, Alabama Police Department Explorers are out at Helena Old Town live tonight! 🎉

Be sure to stop by and see us, along with the Helena Fire Cadets . We’re providing wristbands for children to help keep them safe in case they get lost or separated from their families.

We also have the S.A.F.E. Trailer available for any guests who may be feeling overwhelmed or overstimulated—your comfort and safety matter to us.

I'm very excited to announce that Richie Castellon has won 1st place in Traffic Stop at the Alabama State Skills USA competition. Richie is both a Helena Police Explorer and a student at Shelby County's CTEC Public Service Academy. Richie will continue to compete at national competition.

Today’s Helena Police Explorers meeting kicked off with some PT to get everyone moving and focused. From there, we jumped right into felony traffic stops, where our explorers worked on clear communication with suspects and strong teamwork with one another.

These scenarios are a great way to build confidence, learn proper procedures, and strengthen the skills needed in real-life situations. Proud of the effort and growth we’re seeing each week! 🚓💪

Today at the Helena Police Explorers meeting, our Explorers continued building their skills by working through traffic stops and taking the next step into learning felony traffic stops.

They focused on communication, officer safety, and working together through different scenarios. These situations require a higher level of awareness and teamwork, and our Explorers rose to the challenge.

We’re proud of the effort and growth we’re seeing each week as they continue to learn and develop their understanding of law enforcement practices.

The Helena Police Explorers kicked off their meeting with PT, pushing themselves to build strength, endurance, and discipline. 💪

After PT, the explorers transitioned into training focused on traffic stops. They worked through multiple scenarios, learning how to safely and effectively handle different situations while improving their communication and decision-making skills.

We are proud of their hard work, dedication, and willingness to learn. Each week they continue to grow and develop the skills needed for a future in law enforcement. 🚓👏
