Last week, we announced that our Board of Directors has begun the search process for a new Executive Director. Our outgoing leader, Gina Boesdorfer, will soon be departing the organization to pursue a new professional opportunity after more than 10 years with the agency and nearly 20 years in our field overall.

Gina will be a tough act to follow to say the least, and we look forward to sharing a final sign-off message from her in mid-June. In the meantime, help us spread the word that we're looking for qualified candidates to take the helm at The Friendship Center and build on the incredible foundation Gina will be leaving behind.

If you're passionate about overseeing a talented team to ensure high quality services for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking, consider applying or, if you know the perfect candidate to carry our mission forward, be sure to share the position with them.

Visit our employment page to read the full position description and check out the press release to read the executive director transition announcement. Links below.

Join us in showing some love for our 2026 Hope Benefit Luncheon sponsors!

Thanks in no small part to their support, last Tuesday's celebration of our clients and our community raised over $130,000 for The Friendship Center's vital services for survivors as well as our community-wide efforts to prevent abuse through education. 🎉

Our advocates can walk alongside survivors because we have a community that walks alongside us, and believes in safeguarding free, confidential services for those experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking.

Our community's attention, time, resources, and partnership are the reason we can support hundreds of survivors each year, and reach even more people with insights and resources to help our community thrive in healthy relationships.

THANK YOU FROM ALL OF US! 🫶

Thanks to everyone who's contributed so far, we've raised over $13,000 and unlocked our $4k challenge gift with about 6 hours to go for this year's Greater Helena Gives! 🎉

Your support ensures everyone in our tri-county area has access to free, 24/7, confidential services and that survivors can count on The Friendship Center for support, information, and critical resources to resolve their immediate crisis. You also support access to the knowledge and insights that our community can use to thrive in healthy relationships where everyone's full autonomy and humanity is respected, and abuse has no place. THANK YOU FROM ALL OF US!

If you haven't yet made a gift, there's still time to help us reach out $20k goal, and all funds raised by 8pm help us toward our overall spring goal of $65k.

Visit thefriendshipcenter.org/ghg to chip in if you can, and help spread the word by sharing our page!

Greater Helena Gives starts at 8 PM today, May 6!

Last year, our community's support helped us serve over 730 clients with services like crisis intervention, counseling, legal advocacy, and safety planning. We also provided nearly 14,000 nights of safe shelter, and fielded over 3,700 interactions through our 24-hour crisis line—always staffed with one of our advocates ready to help connect survivors to vital services.

Besides safeguarding free, 24/7, confidential, sometimes life-saving services that our tri-county area can count on, our community's support helps us share knowledge and insights to equip people of all ages to thrive in healthy relationships where everyone's autonomy and humanity is respected, and abuse has no place.

Greater Helena Gives 2025 raised over $16,000 for The Friendship Center, propelling us toward a successful spring fundraising campaign, and we're looking to build on that momentum again this year with a goal of $20,000. If you're able to help with a donation, consider making yours while every dollar goes a little further through a special challenge gift! Help us raise our first $8,000 to unlock an additional $4,000!

Drawing upon the most comprehensive study of sexual assault on a college campus to date, S*XUAL CITIZENS: S*X, POWER, AND ASSAULT ON CAMPUS presents a new framework for understanding why sexual assault is such a common feature of college life and what can be done to prevent it. TFC Education Coordinator Eric Parsons shares why he recommends this book for not only educators and advocates, but anyone who cares about young people in their community.

Eric highlights some of the key takeaways from the book, like ways to help young adults identify their desired outcomes from sexual encounters, how the physical world they exist in contributes to how they navigate intimacy, and what adults in their lives can do to help them have safer and more satisfying sexual relationships.

"S*XUAL CITIZENS is a surprisingly easy read," writes Eric. "And while it’s focused on a difficult topic, the authors manage to leave the reader with positive feelings about college students and the work that can be done for their benefit. I highly recommend this book not only to educators, advocates, administrators, and preventionists, but to anyone who cares about the youth in their community."
