Spring has arrived, and the Lewis and Clark County Noxious W**d District and Division would like to share several important updates and resources with the community. We value our partnerships with landowners, residents, and community organizations, and we look forward to continuing to work together to effectively manage noxious w**ds across the county.

With the growing season underway, now is the time to begin planning for noxious w**d management. If you’re unsure where to start, we’re here to help. A variety of helpful resources are available on our website: Noxious W**d Control District – Lewis & Clark County.

We offer assistance with developing five-year noxious w**d management plans, maintain a list of licensed commercial applicators, and provide equipment rentals, including sprayers and a drop seeder.

We are also introducing an updated procedure for our noncompliance program, aimed at improving clarity and effectiveness for landowners and the community, with a primary focus on education.

If you have questions or would like more information, please contact us at (406) 447-8372, visit our website, or email us at [email protected].

We appreciate your continued partnership and commitment to keeping our community healthy and noxious w**d-free.

We have 31 different presentations happening at our conference next week, and there are so many great ones that choosing which to attend will be difficult!

Dr Jane Mangold and one of her students, Damian Stoy are presenting what is sure to be an interactive and fun workshop on distinguishing noxious w**ds from similar-looking plants, which as many of us know, can be difficult. Land managers and the general public alike can mistake native plants for noxious w**ds, leading to non-target impacts on plant communities during w**d control activities. One main reason we control w**ds is to benefit these plant communities, so it is important to know the difference. In their workshop, they will discuss plant identification concepts, learn about the benefits of native plants, and practice identifying common native plants in Montana that can be mistaken for noxious w**ds.
