York Volunteer Fire Department Community information about the York Fire Dept. and it's fund raisers, including The York Fest and The 38 Special. Our service area is approximately 200 sq.

York was founded in 1868, 20 miles northeast of Helena in the Heart of the Big Belt Mountains We are a small community based volunteer fire department tucked away in the Big Belt Mountains and surrounded by Helena National Forest Service land. Currently we have 14 firefighters on our roster, 4 of them are also EMT's. miles with approximately 400 year around residents. Because of the mountainous te

rrain, lakes, river and streams, this is a largely utilized recreation area. Population dramatically increases during the spring and summer months.
