Montana agriculture depends on a strong workforce, and we're committed to helping producers find practical solutions.

Thank you to the Montana Farm Bureau Federation for the opportunity to discuss how the Montana Department of Labor & Industry is expanding workforce pathways for agriculture through Registered Apprenticeships and providing guidance to employers navigating the H-2A program.

From succession planning for family farms and ranches to connecting employers with skilled workers, we're working alongside Montana's agricultural community to strengthen the workforce that keeps our state growing.

Yesterday, Commissioner Sarah Swanson, Tribal Liaison Donnie Wetzel, and Tribal Youth & Young Adult Coordinator Alicia Doney were honored to join the Tribal State Relations meeting in Fort Belknap.

Since 2023, our Office of Tribal Liaison has worked to build authentic, government-to-government relationships with Montana's Tribal Nations - rooted in listening, mutual respect, and recognition of tribal sovereignty.
That partnership has opened doors: a new Job Service Office invited into Lame Deer alongside tribal government, job expos shaped by tribal leaders and brought directly into communities, and a Workforce Warriors initiative that lifts up Native role models in their own words.

We're grateful for the trust Montana's Tribal Nations continue to place in this work, and we remain committed to listening, learning, and walking alongside our tribal partners.
