Borough of Heidelberg

Borough of Heidelberg Heidelberg, Pennsylvania The Borough of Heidelberg sits six miles southwest of Pittsburgh in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Interstate 79 (I-79). Kenneth A.

The Borough is readily accessible, having its own exits off the Parkway West (I-376) and U.S. The β€œmain drag” of town is State Route 50 (Rt. 50), a major artery in the southern suburbs of Pittsburgh, which essentially bisects the town in a east/west direction. As Route 50 passes through the Borough, it is lined with many shops, businesses and convenience stores. Heidelberg has a gentle, rolling to

pography with quiet, tree lined streets, well-maintained homes and lots of friendly people. The rectangular and regular street pattern of the Borough and its quiet nature have led the Western Pennsylvania School for the Blind to routinely use the town as a safe and consistent training ground for its students to learn to navigate as pedestrians. The Borough has a population of approximately 1,250 people, is about a third square mile in size, and has a long, rich and interesting history. LaSota, Mayor

Tomorrow, we come together as a community to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Please join Heidelberg Borough for our Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 25 at 10:00 AM at Heidelberg Park on Industry Way.

Memorial Day is more than the start of summer. It is a time for reflection, gratitude, and remembrance of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms. We invite residents, families, veterans, and neighbors to stand with us as we pause to remember our fallen heroes.

Some people leave a lasting impact on a community simply by showing up every single day and quietly doing the work that needed done. Dennis was one of those people.

For many of us, it is hard to imagine Heidelberg without his presence, his guidance, his humor, and the sense of comfort that came from knowing he cared deeply about this community and the people in it.

As we share Chief Dixon's obituary, we do so with gratitude for the years he gave to Heidelberg and for the countless lives he touched along the way.

Please continue to keep his family, friends, fellow officers, and everyone grieving this loss in your thoughts and prayers in the days ahead. May his memory be a blessing.

Celebrate the life of Dennis Dixon and join others in sharing memories, stories, and condolences.

Today, our hearts are full seeing the incredible kindness and support being shown to the Heidelberg Police Department and the family of Chief Dennis Dixon.

We want to sincerely thank everyone who has stopped by with flowers, food, cards, and thoughtful gestures in honor of Chief Dixon. Your kindness has meant more than words can express during this difficult time. The outpouring of love from our community has been a beautiful reminder of the impact Chief Dixon had on so many lives.

We would also like to extend a heartfelt public thank you to the neighboring police departments, fire departments, EMS personnel, first responders, and public safety partners who have stepped up to support our officers, borough staff, and community over the past several days. Your presence, compassion, and willingness to stand beside Heidelberg during this time has not gone unnoticed, and we are deeply grateful.

Chief Dixon served this community with dedication, leadership, and heart for many years. He was respected not only as a police chief, but as a mentor, colleague, and friend to so many. His legacy and the lives he touched throughout this community will never be forgotten.

For anyone wishing to send cards to Chief Dixon’s family, they may be mailed or dropped off at the Heidelberg Borough Office, and we will ensure they are delivered to the family. πŸ’™
