REMEMBERING MARSHА RATCHFORD — 9/11

As we continue to honor the heroes and lives lost on September 11, 2001, we remember U.S. Navy Petty Officer First Class Marsha D. Ratchford, who lost her life at the Pentagon.

Marsha was a Navy Information Technician who served her country for nearly 15 years. She was strong-willed, kind, quiet, and deeply devoted to her family. But above all, she was a mother—a loving mother of three children who meant the world to her.

On the morning of September 11th, Marsha called her husband after learning about the attacks in New York. She told him she loved him and that she would call him later. Those were the last words he would hear from her.

Marsha's life was one of service, love, dedication, and sacrifice. She answered the call to serve her country, and her legacy continues through the family she loved and the countless people who refuse to let her story be forgotten.

Today, TLSD Marsha carries her name forward.
Not simply as a reminder of how Marsha was taken from this world, but as a celebration of who she was—a mother, a sailor, a wife, a daughter, and a woman who devoted her life to serving others.

Twenty-five years later, we remember. We honor.

Remembering NYPD Officer Moira Smith. 🇺🇸

As we continue remembering the heroes of September 11th, today we honor NYPD Officer Moira Smith—a wife, a mother, a daughter, and a police officer whose courage knew no limits.

When Moira witnessed the first plane strike the World Trade Center, she was the first NYPD officer to report the attack. She immediately responded to Lower Manhattan and began helping civilians escape the devastation. She repeatedly went back into the South Tower, guiding people to safety and helping the injured. Survivors remembered her calm presence and determination as she continued doing what she had sworn to do—protect and serve.

Moira was last seen helping evacuate people from the South Tower before it collapsed. She was just 38 years old and became the only female NYPD officer killed at Ground Zero on September 11th. She was posthumously awarded the NYPD Medal of Honor, the department's highest honor.

But Moira was more than her badge. She was a mother to a young daughter, a wife, and a woman who had already demonstrated extraordinary bravery years before when she helped save people following a subway crash.

TLSD Moira carries her name forward—not simply as a reminder of how Moira died, but as a celebration of how she lived: with courage, compassion, selflessness, and an unwavering commitment to helping others.

Remembering Keith Roma — The 344th.🇺🇸

As we continue our journey toward the 25th anniversary of September 11th, today we remember a hero whose name is too often left out of the count.

Keith Roma was a 27-year-old Fire Patrolman with New York Fire Patrol #2. On September 11, 2001, he entered the North Tower again and again, helping people escape the devastation. He made at least four trips into the tower and is credited with helping save approximately 200 people.

Keith was the only member of the New York Fire Patrol to lose his life that day. His remains were ultimately found on Christmas Eve, alongside nine other people he was trying to lead to safety.

The number 343 has become synonymous with the firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice on 9/11. But Keith reminds us that there was another firefighter who answered the call, ran toward the danger, and gave everything he had to save others.

Keith Roma was the 344th.

That is why we carry his name forward. That is why we tell his story. And that is why TLSD Roma will forever stand as a reminder that no hero should ever be forgotten. ♥️

One week from today, we will pause to remember.🇺🇸

Twenty-five years ago, on September 11, 2001, our nation changed forever. In the days leading up to the 25th anniversary, we will honor the lives lost by highlighting one of our dogs each day—and the hero whose name and legacy they carry forward.

We begin with TLSD Judge, named in honor of Father Mychal Judge, the beloved FDNY Chaplain who gave his life while serving his firefighters on that tragic day. Father Judge was known for his compassion, his faith, and his unwavering commitment to the men and women of the FDNY.

On 9/11, he went to the World Trade Center to pray with and comfort those in need. He became the first officially recorded victim of the attacks.

Father Judge’s legacy was one of faith, service, compassion, and love—qualities we know TLSD Judge carries forward every day.

Twenty-five years later, we remember.

We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸🐾

September is Firefighter Appreciation Month! 🚒

At Thin Line Service Dogs, we’re honored to support the brave men and women who run toward danger when others run away. Our service and crisis response dogs provide comfort, support, and companionship to those who serve.

This month is especially meaningful to us because our amazing co-founder, Wayne, is also a firefighter. His firsthand experience, dedication, and passion for supporting first responders help drive our mission every day. 🐾❤️

🐶🐾 It’s National Dog Day — and Captain Billy is ready to celebrate!

Every year on August 26, National Dog Day celebrates our four-legged companions and the joy, comfort and companionship they bring into our lives. 🐾

Today, the New Orleans Fire Department is celebrating a very special member of our department family — Captain Billy, NOFD’s Crisis Response K-9! ❤️

From headquarters to the firehouse and throughout the department, Captain Billy brings comfort, companionship and plenty of smiles wherever he goes.

As the NOFD’s Crisis Response K-9, Captain Billy provides a welcoming presence and opportunities for members of our department to pause, connect and recharge.

Since joining the NOFD in 2025 through Thin Line Service Dogs, Captain Billy has become a much-loved member of the NOFD family.

🐾 He may have four paws, but he has a big role in our department.

Happy National Dog Day! 🐾

Today we celebrate ALL dogs and the amazing ways they make our world better. ❤️

Some are search and rescue heroes, using their incredible noses to find those who are lost. Some are agility stars, showing off their speed, focus, and determination. Some are working dogs, while others have the very important job of being our pets, companions, and best friends.

And some are destined for a special life of service. Service dogs are trained to provide support, independence, comfort, and confidence to those who need them most.

Different jobs. Different paths. One incredible gift—the ability to make a difference simply by being a dog. ❤️

Today, we celebrate every dog and all the love, loyalty, and joy they bring into our lives!
