Over the past week and throughout the next several weeks, you may notice our members around town conducting fire hydrant flow testing. During this process, one hydrant will be connected to a fire engine while another nearby hydrant releases water through one of its ports.

Flow testing is performed in addition to the village’s regular hydrant flushing program. Each hydrant is tested every five years, as well as after any major updates or repairs. These tests help our members determine how much water can be expected from each hydrant during an emergency response.

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning for northern McHenry County, in effect until 8:15 PM.

At 7:28 PM, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Capron, or near Poplar Grove, moving east at 45 mph. There is radar indicated rotation.

This morning we responded to Lake Geneva with a Change of Quarters Engine and Chief to cover their town while they worked to contain a structure fire.

Concerning the large amount of smoke east of town, the McHenry County Conservation District is undertaking a prescribed burn on prairie lands north of Route 173. These burns are performed by their specially trained and equipped Prescribed Burn Crew. The burns play a vital role in prairie conservation by controlling invasive plants, removing dead vegetation, and providing various other benefits. This allows native prairie plants and grasses, which are fire-adapted, to thrive.

We want to thank the Alden-Hebron Elementary School for having us over to talk fire safety. It was a great way to start homecoming friday. We hope you can come out to the Homecoming Parade at 430 today followed by the Homecoming Football Game at 7pm! Let’s show are Giants Pride!!

We would like to take a moment to thank everyone for coming out to support our annual pig roast!

We hope everyone had a good time, enjoyed the food, and enjoyed the music by the Joe Powers Country Band.

We need to thank our members, as well as their friends and family, who helped make the event successful.

We couldn’t put this event together without the local businesses that support us with their donation and support. They include, but are not limited to, Crandall's Restaurant, Von Bergen's Country Market, Pitel Septic Inc, Step It Up Rental, LLC, Green Valley Stock Farm, Royal Oak Farm Orchard, Ridgeview Design Co., Lalor Family, and Perfect Shutters.

1919 Architects were wonderful to work with on our renovation to the firehouse. This renovation will allow us to grow for the foreseeable future.
