The Hebron Ohio Police Department would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Buckeye Lake Eagles FOE 2801 for their generous donation of $5000.

This funding will directly support community outreach initiatives and promotional programs such as Christmas Shopping with the Hebron Police and Cast with a Cop—programs that help us build meaningful connections with the people we serve.

Opportunities like these strengthen relationships and foster trust beyond day-to-day calls for service, allowing us to connect with our community in meaningful and lasting ways.

We are incredibly grateful for this support and the opportunity to continue investing in our community. Generous contributions like this help make these programs even more impactful.

Together, we’re making Hebron an even stronger community!

🌪️Severe Weather Alert — Tonight into Early Thursday 🌧️

We’re monitoring a potentially active overnight weather event affecting Central Ohio, with the greatest concern between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM.

According to the latest forecast (Shout out to our friend Andrew Buck Michael for the graphics!), storms may bring:
💨 Damaging wind gusts up to 60+ MPH
🧊 Large hail
🌪️ Isolated tornadoes
🌧️ Heavy rain with localized flooding possible

Based on that forecast, we are placing this event on the extremely credible and definitely legitimate Hebron Ohio Police Department Trash Can Wind Meter somewhere between🟥 Down the Street and🟪 She Gone

Official interpretation:
If your trash can is still outside unsecured… it may soon be exploring neighboring jurisdictions.

❗️Please take a few minutes tonight to prepare:
◾️ Secure trash cans, patio furniture, flags, and loose outdoor items
◾️Charge your phone before bed
◾️ Make sure weather alerts / emergency notifications are enabled overnight
◾️ Watch for ponding water and flooding, especially in low-lying or poor-drainage areas
◾️ Never drive through flooded roadways — Turn Around, Don’t Drown
◾️ Stay away from downed power lines and storm debris

Overnight storms can be especially dangerous because many people are asleep when warnings are issued. Have multiple ways to receive alerts.

Hebron Police officers and Village of Hebron Public Works staff will be monitoring conditions throughout the night and responding to hazards as needed.

Stay safe, Hebron...and remember: while your trash can achieving liftoff may be noteworthy, please don’t call our friends at Licking County 911 for power outages or to report a missing trash can — save 911 for real emergencies.

🎣 Cast with a Cop 2026 🎣

This past Saturday, the Hebron Ohio Police Department was proud to host our Inaugural Cast with a Cop event at the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Hebron Fish Hatchery. What started as an idea to connect young people with public safety professionals turned into an unforgettable day filled with fishing, smiles, laughter, learning, and meaningful conversations.

Throughout the day, participants had the opportunity to fish alongside police officers, deputies, troopers, firefighters, and public officials from across our region. Whether it was helping bait a hook, landing a first fish, learning archery, or simply spending time together outdoors, the event was a powerful reminder of the positive impact that community partnerships can have on our youth.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all of the agencies, businesses, organizations, volunteers, and sponsors who helped make this event possible:

🚓🚒 Licking County Sheriff's Office, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Lancaster Police Department, West Licking Joint Fire District, Ohio Department of Natural Resources-Law Enforcement Division, Village of Hebron Staff and families
🏪👉 Vance Outdoors, Inc., North Shore Bait & Tackle Shop, Ideal Promotions , Clay's Cafe, S&F Photography, Beth Moore - State Farm Insurance Agent, Lakewood Local School District, Talking Fish

A special thank you goes out to the families and young anglers who joined us. Seeing the excitement on their faces made all of the planning and preparation worthwhile.

This event was just the beginning. We are already looking forward to making Cast with a Cop even bigger and better in 2027!

Apparently, a viral police video has some people searching for the "Hebron Police Department." Many have come to our page, email accounts, and voicemails to express their thoughts (and some rather unkind words) on the matter. (Seriously, do some of you text your mother with those keys?!)

Unfortunately, many of our new friends skipped one important detail: a simple Google search.

Hebron, Illinois ≠ Hebron, Ohio

The officer in the video works in Hebron, Illinois—approximately 400 miles, 3 states, and a couple cornfields away from us.

While we appreciate the sudden spike in engagement on our page, we want everyone to know we had absolutely nothing to do with the incident.

Before tagging us, messaging us, or composing a lengthy Facebook comment or email, please make sure you've got the correct Hebron.

But, since you're here anyway, give us a like and a follow! Thanks for helping us out!

🚔 Respectfully, The Hebron OHIO Police Department

⚡🚲 Electric Bikes Are Growing in Popularity—Know the Rules Before You Ride! 🚲⚡

Did you know:
● E-bikes cannot be ridden on sidewalks while the motors are engaged.
● Only certain types of e-bikes can be ridden on bike and multi-use trails like the Licking Park District Ohio Canal Greenway Trail.

Ohio law treats electric bicycles much like traditional bicycles, meaning riders are expected to obey traffic signals, ride in the same direction as traffic, and follow the rules of the road. Additional regulations regarding e-bike operation can be found in Ohio Revised Code §4511.522.

As e-bikes become more common among young riders, we encourage parents to take time to understand the differences between the three classes of electric bicycles. Some e-bikes are capable of assisted speeds up to 28 MPH, making it important that riders understand how to operate them safely and responsibly.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦Parents: Before purchasing or allowing your child to ride an e-bike, familiarize yourself with its capabilities, applicable laws, and the safety equipment needed to help keep them safe.

To learn more about Ohio's e-bike classifications and riding requirements, visit: HebronPolice.org/e-bikes

We would like to encourage all residents and visitors in the Village of Hebron to ride responsibly and safely.

🛍️Historic National Road Yard Sale Weekend is Here!🛍️

The Historic National Road Yard Sale brings thousands of visitors to our community each year, and we're excited to welcome everyone to the Village of Hebron!

Whether you're hunting for treasures, hosting a sale, or simply passing through town, please help us keep everyone safe by remembering a few simple tips:

✅ Slow down and watch for pedestrians
✅ Be alert for vehicles entering and exiting sale locations
✅ Avoid distracted driving
✅ Use extra caution near busy intersections and roadside sales

With increased vehicle and foot traffic along U.S. Route 40, a little patience goes a long way in ensuring a safe and enjoyable weekend for everyone.

Thank you for visiting Hebron and supporting our local community. Have fun, stay safe, and happy treasure hunting!
