Heath City Schools was established in 1961. The district is comprised of four buildings, Garfield Elementary School which serves grades kindergarten, first and second; Stevenson Elementary which serves grades three, four and five; Heath Middle School which serves grades six, seven and eight; and Heath High School which serves grades nine through twelve. The district offers a variety of enriching c

ourses and activities for students. We welcome you to our page that exists for the benefit of students. While this is an excellent method of communication for families and community members, appropriate conduct is required. General Information

After 37 years in education and 19 years as an Athletic Director, we celebrate the incredible career of Bo Hanson on his well-deserved retirement!

Bo’s impact has been felt across multiple communities, serving as Athletic Director at Lakewood, Pickerington Central, and most recently at Heath, where he concluded his career over the past five years. His leadership extended far beyond the sidelines, he played an instrumental role in the reformation of the Licking County League and has been a respected leader within the LCL.

Bo’s commitment to education-based athletics is evident through his service as an officer with the OIAAA and his dedication to professional development at both the state and national levels. He has mentored, supported, and inspired countless students, coaches, and colleagues along the way.

More than anything, Bo will be remembered for the relationships he built and the positive influence he had on both students and families throughout his career. Bo, thank you for your years of service, leadership, and passion. You will truly be missed, and we hope to see you continue to stay involved in the community you’ve given so much to. Congratulations and best wishes on your retirement! 🎉

We shared some important news last week about how school construction projects will be easier and less expensive in the future, but we think it's important to take a step back and explain more about school funding in general.🏫

Have you ever wondered how your school pays for things like teachers' salaries, books, computers, and the heating/air conditioning and electrical that keeps the buildings running?💰

Schools need money, just like your family does. Most of the money that funds Heath City Schools comes from property taxes. That means people who own homes or buildings in our community pay a tax based on what those buildings are worth, and some of that money goes to the school. In Fiscal Year 2025 (July 1, 2024 - June 30, 2025), Heath City School District was funded 51.5% from property taxes (53% from residents and 47% from businesses & utility companies), 31.4% in state education funding, and 17.1% in open enrollment, grants and credits.

We will be sharing more school funding information in the coming weeks and beyond.

We are grateful to Representative Miller for his work on HB 479. Thanks to him, we now know that when the community decides to build new schools, that we will be able to obtain 50% of the cost from state funding!!

After the failure of the bond in March of 2024, we decided to focus our energy on obtaining our fair share from the OFCC. We now believe this will dramatically lower the local funds we will need to provide adequate facilities for our kids.
