Star Hill Trails

Hello everyone,

Just a quick reminder to please use discretion when changing at the Heath High School parking lot. Earlier today, the police were called because an individual was seen changing in only a towel. My understanding is that this was the second time this individual had been notified about this behavior.

We’ve been granted permission by the school to park there for trail access, but given that it’s a school property and surrounded by homes, it’s important that we continue to be good partners and respectful neighbors. Whenever possible, please change inside your vehicle rather than outside.

As a fellow mountain biker, I understand this can be inconvenient, but maintaining a positive relationship with the school and the community is essential for keeping this privilege.

any volunteers with a good chainsaw? the picture on the left is just a real big branch hanging down, but you better pay close attention because it could really come down on you . its back at the farthest corners of the place from the school. the other is the top half of a really big tree , its the wide trail that paralles the river . good idea to take two people for these jobs

I haven’t seen any big trees across the trail. that doesn’t mean there isn’t any but I have seen hundreds of branches if any your local riders want to come up and volunteer pick up a few sticks m

All 2024 Funduro Stages have been added or updated on Strava except for Stage 7.

2023 segments whose routes were unchanged received an updated 2024 name on Strava. 2023 segments that were changed for 2024 were left alone and remain on Strava.

A group of us are pre-riding the Star Hill Funduro segments tomorrow at 11am if anyone is up interested in seeing the race lines before they are taped next Friday.

Meet at the Heath High School parking lot, 300 Licking View Drive. We park on the left hand side as you enter the lot.

Quick update for everyone:

2. We’re hoping to have the course taped at least 7 days before the race. Check back here for updates.
3. We have begun installing EMS and bike signs. EMS are yellow, biking signs are brown. We’re still waiting on partial shipments to complete the signage. Soon we’ll have blue arrows that show a recommended loop!
4. We’re hoping to have kiosks at the trail entrance and at the top of Stonehouse. I am not confident we’ll have these before the race.
5. REMINDER: The trails were added to Trailforks and MTB Project months ago. Bookmark these on your phone if you’re new.

8. Caution: We added a landing to improve safety to the bottom of a trail unofficially called Overlook. Use caution until you are familiar with this change. I’ve attached a video of the trail.

Huge thanks to the City of Heath Parks Department, Heath City Council and Innovative Dirt Solutions for the work that has been done over the past few years. We’ve installed 5 miles of EMS trail that improves safety and doubles as a hiking trail.

Oh yeah, also, STAR HILL NOW HAS THE LONGEST MACHINE MADE FLOW TRAIL IN OHIO. Come check out Bob Gnarly asap! The guys at Innovative Dirt Solutions absolutely crushed it. We have .7 miles of flow ready for you. This trail is located off Burn Drive EMS on the south side of Sronehouse. You’ll know you’ve found it when you see the 17 foot rock gap that begins the trail!

Changes were made on what’s been known as jawbreaker .. if you are use to going fast down it, you better pull up hard and super send it because now it’s a gap, or slow down and ride through it, else you will end up on your head

Exciting things happening at Star Hill!

1. New trail is named Bob Gnarly and is looking gnarly as ever. Very fast doubles, tables and rock drops! We couldn’t be happier with the work being done by Innovative Dirt Solutions!

2. CAUTION: Under normal conditions, riding the trail while being built is good because it allows us to fine tune the trail along the way. However, please stay off the new trail after heavy rain. The trail needs time to settle in and this creates costly repairs and slows development.

We are targeting a completion date of June 30, weather permitting. Our goal is to include this as a segment in the Funduro race on 7/21. Please help us by spreading the word for those who aren’t part of our social media platforms.

Exciting times at Forry Preserve. The support from the City of Heath and our Mayor Mark Johns has been nothing short of incredible.

Here’s some updates you’ll want to know:

- Official maps of the trail system have been finalized on MTB Project and Trailforks here:

- A kiosk and trail signs are on order and will be installed over the next several weeks.
- The City has reviewed and approved a .7 mile purpose built flow trail from the Stone House to the river that will contain multiple features such as tables, gaps, rock drops and berms.
- The City is focused on expanding the use to the community by evaluating easier options for other access points and expanded/dedicated parking and greater connectivity to nearby neighborhoods and Licking View Drive.

One final ask: The trail is highly vulnerable to erosion and damage right now due to freeze/thaw conditions. Please stay off the trail until we have several days without rain.

Please do not rake or blow leaves!! They may not be great riding for now , but in the long run they have been proven better to just leave them alone ..
