Section 8 Program News

The Housing Authority is encouraging not only its residents but everyone in the community to practice safe distancing. For the safety of all please do not go out unless you are an essential worker or if you need supplies such as food or medications. If you do go out please wear a mask, use hand sanitizer and stay 6 ft away from other people when possible.

The Housing Authority has ceased all person to person meetings with tenants, landlords and applicants. All business is being conducted via telephone and mail only and our office is minimally staffed. We are currently closed on Wednesday's.

The Housing Authority of the City of Hazleton is seeking applicants for the position of:

Full Time Utility Worker

Interested applicants must possess one year of verified experience in grounds keeping, janitorial or general maintenance related work.
Utility worker applicant shall perform a variety of semi-skilled and general laborer tasks within the primary areas of the grounds maintenance and janitorial duties and will be assigned to assist other maintenance classification duties as directed by the Executive Director in accordance with maintenance contract.

Hours of work are from:
8:00am-4:00pm
Monday through Friday
There will be no overtime.
Starting salary is $13.00 per hour

THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF HAZLETON will be opening its Public Housing Waiting Lists for efficiency and one (1) bedroom units effective September 2, 2019

We will continue to accept applications for ONLY studio/efficiency units and one (1) bedroom units at 320 West Mine Street, every Wednesday between the hours of 9:00am-11:00am and from 1:00pm-3:00pm.

The Housing Authority of the City of Hazleton is seeking applicants for the position of: Full-Time Maintenance Supervisor

This person will be responsible for managing the maintenance staff, monitoring inventory, supervising repairs, and allocating jobs. They will also be required to manage administrative responsibilities such as budgeting costs and capital improvements. Hours are 8:00-4:00-M-F.
