Parents, safety starts with YOU! 💙💛

We know how exciting the first day of school is! 📸 From the new backpack and first-day outfit to that proud smile at the bus stop, these are moments you want to remember and it’s okay to share those special moments with family and friends.

But before you hit “POST,” take a moment to look at what your child’s photo may be revealing.

🔒 Avoid sharing:
❌ Your child’s full name
❌ School name, logo, or classroom
❌ Teacher’s name
❌ Bus number or bus stop
❌ Your home address or street number
❌ Phone numbers or other contact information
❌ Locations or details that reveal your child’s daily routine

✅ Share the excitement, not the identifying details!

Remember, once something is posted online, you may not be able to completely remove it. Even if you delete a post, screenshots and copies can continue to exist and be shared.

Take the picture. Make the memories. Celebrate your child.

Just think before you post. ❤️

📚🚌 SCHOOL IS STARTING SOON! 🚌📚

As we get ready to welcome students back to school, the Hazleton City Police Department is reminding everyone in our community to slow down, stay alert, and know the law when it comes to school buses.

🛑 Remember Pennsylvania Vehicle Code §3345.1: When a school bus is stopped with its red lights flashing and stop arm extended, drivers are required to stop as required by law. Do not attempt to pass a stopped school bus. Violations can result in significant penalties and citations.

🚸 And remember school buses aren't the only thing to watch for!

Hazleton has a large number of students who walk to and from our schools. These students are sharing the roadways, intersections, and crosswalks with you.

👉 Please:

➡️Slow down in school zones and residential areas.
➡️Look both ways before proceeding through intersections and crosswalks.
➡️Watch carefully for students walking or crossing the roadway.
➡️Be patient around school buses and stopped traffic.
➡️Put the phone down and keep your attention on the road.

Give students the time and space they need to get to school safely.

⚠️ This is more than a reminder, it’s a warning. Officers will be monitoring school areas and drivers who violate the law can and will be cited.

A few extra seconds of caution could prevent a tragedy.

Let's work together to make sure every student gets to school and back home safely. 💙💛
