Ok folks….. it doesn’t matter which forecast you listen to, bottom line is we are going to get hit with a storm that could possibly last 24 hrs. Latest looks like Saturday night and all day Sunday, wrapping up after midnight on Sunday (Mon morning)

Right now it looks like a 100% chance of snow, plowable snow, and maybe even sleet/ice at some point. Power outages are possible. Now is the time to get prepared. Be over prepared, don’t underestimate.

Full tank of gas, extra gas, food in the house, batteries, flashlights, candles, multiple phone chargers, shovel, salt, and maybe even a little extra cash on hand are just a few things to consider .

We are still a few days away and honestly, they really don’t know how bad yet….. it’s a full blown educated GUESS at this point. We’ve seen from 4” up to 18.5” with the most common being 6-10” with possible sleet mixed in.

Point of this post…… just be prepared and don’t wait till last minute. Listen to forecasts but know they can be wrong.

Lastly, remove your cars from the street and stay safe!!

Borrowed from our friends at Keansburg EMS-
Ambulance Transport Clarification🚑
There seems to be some confusion regarding patients dictating where our ambulance must transport them. We’d like to clarify how this works.
Under New Jersey EMS standards, ambulances transport patients to the closest appropriate emergency department based on medical need.
Patient preference alone, including “I always go there” or “my doctor is there” does not require EMS to go to a farther hospital.
For most emergencies in our area, that means Bayshore or Riverview Medical Centers, both fully capable emergency departments.
As a volunteer, non-billing EMS service, unnecessary long transports can leave our town without an available ambulance.
🚨 When specialty care is medically required (Certain stroke calls & heart attack calls, major trauma, burns, maternity, etc.), patients are transported to the appropriate specialty center along side Advance Life Support services. These specialty centers are usually Jersey Shore University Medical Center or Monmouth Medical Center.
If there is no medical need to go farther, options include:
• Closest appropriate hospital by ambulance
• Private vehicle
• Declining ambulance transport
This is legal, medically appropriate, and standard across New Jersey EMS.
Thank you for supporting your local volunteer EMS
