National Pet Day (April 11)

🐕🐈‍⬛They’re more than just pets, they’re family! This National Pet Day, make sure your furry friends are part of your fire escape plan.

🐾Window Clings: Place a "Pet Alert" sticker on your front window so firefighters know exactly how many pets to look for.
🐾Leash Logic: Keep leashes or carriers near the front door for a quick grab-and-go during an emergency.
🐾Counter Surfers: If your dog can reach the stove, use k**b covers or remove the k**bs when you aren't home to prevent accidental ignitions.

🌷 Celebrate Safely This Easter! 🐣

Easter is a wonderful time for family feasts and fun, but it’s also a busy day for home cooking fires. Help our crews keep the community safe with these quick tips:

• 🍳 Stay in the kitchen: Never leave the stove or oven unattended while cooking your holiday meal.
• 🕯️ Candle Safety: Keep candles and open flames at least 3 feet away from decorations, Easter baskets, and curtains.
• 🔋 Check your alarms: Use the holiday as a reminder to test your smoke alarms!
• 🔌 Don't Overload: Be careful not to overload extension cords with festive lights or electronics.

Have a safe and "egg-stra" special holiday!

Tonight we said good bye to our 1994 Pierce Dash engine. It’s currently on it’s way to Virginia to serve the Copper Creek Moccasin Volunteer Fire Department. Best of luck, enjoy it! We hope it serves you as well as it’s served us for over 30 years. Good bye to the “little engine that could!”

Ok Facebook friends and family. I need your help. Obviously this snow storm is one for the record books!! Everyone is doing their best to dig out.

When the call comes for a fire in someones home seconds count. Having access to the fire hydrants is critical.

Please take a few minutes and clear a hydrant near your home. Get everyone involved. Teach the importance of having access to the hydrants to your kids. Your help will be much appreciated by your local volunteer fire companies.

The life you may help save could be your own.

Thank you all in advance for your help.

It's National Burn Awareness Week (February 1-7)! This year is focusing on preventing burns where you live and work. Simple steps like turning pot handles inward and keeping a 'kid-free zone' around the stove can prevent serious injuries.

Top Workplace Burn Prevention Tips:

👉Wear Protective Gear: Always use appropriate PPE🧑‍🚒, such as flame-resistant clothing, gloves, and eye protection, when handling chemicals or hot equipment.
👉 Handle Heat Safely: Monitor boiling liquids or hot oil constantly; always open lids away from your face to avoid steam burns.👩‍🍳
👉Maintain Equipment: Regularly check for frayed cords or damaged tools that could overheat and cause electrical burns.
👉Control Flammables: Store fuels ⛽️and hazardous chemicals in approved containers far away from any heat or ignition sources.
👉Know Emergency Procedures: Keep fire extinguishers🧯 and first aid kits easily accessible, and ensure all staff are trained on evacuation routes.

Stay safe!🚒🔥
