Heads up! Due to dangerously dry conditions and high wildfire risk, MFC has approved burn bans for several counties in the lower half of the state.

🚫 NO OPEN FLAMES: This includes debris, fire pits & campfires.
✅ ALLOWED: Gas grills & heaters.

Current counties affected (as of March 2): Franklin, Jefferson Davis, Pike, Walthall, Wilkinson, Amite, Copiah, Rankin, Adams, Simpson, Warren, and Lawrence.

Due to approaching severe weather expected this weekend and early next week, residents are urged to prepare now. Please review the following important information:

Closures – Monday, January 26, 2026

Hazlehurst City School District — Closed

City of Hazlehurst Offices — Closed

Copiah County Offices — Closed

Waste Management in Hazlehurst plans to operate on Monday; however, a final decision will be made on Sunday.

Copiah County Saferoom:
The Copiah County Saferoom will open Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 5:00 PM
**NO ANIMALS ALLOWED
