As hunting season progresses across the state we want to remind you of some hunting safety tips around electrical equipment. Here’s how you can help avoid accidents:

• Know where electrical equipment is located on the land you hunt.
• Never shoot at or near power lines or insulators.
• Be aware of power line and equipment locations where you hunt.
• Never place deer stands on utility poles.
• Never place decoys on power lines or other electrical equipment.

The safety of our members and our employees is a top priority at Roughrider Electric Cooperative, especially during uncertain situations such as outages. Portable generators, which are widely used during an outage, can prove fatal to both line crews and members when used improperly. Although portable generators can be helpful during outages, we urge you to follow these safety guidelines:
